We've come close to Melbourne plenty of times in recent year though, and even (gasp) beaten them!

We had one of the better records against them a few years back, they hadn't won many in newcastle... I'm sure it was even positive in our favor at one stage, with only the broncos having a better winning record than us.

Yep Melbourne didn't win in Newcastle until 2004.

Anyways why the hell don't we play the storm again this year at home? Last time we played them in Newcastle was round 2 2010, I can't remember a team not visiting newy for so long before.

We have never got to sledge them here after their cheating problems.

I'm more than happy that we only play them once this year but yeah it'd be better if the one off was in Newy..

I'd prefer if we played them twice, we always have a good game against them, probably our better games of the year

Cronk has signed a new 4 year deal with the Storm.

Looks like it will be even tougher for us now.

I don't know what "extras" he'll be receiving but I rang to book a room at the Casino today and the receptionist answered the phone.."Good morning Cronk Casino".

I'm never confident in playing Melbourne at home, I don't think there's any other game that's more dreaded than a Melbourne home game for me. They always bring their game down there, but in saying that I think we can beat them, we have the potential, we just have to make sure we show up tomorrow night. However if we play anything like we did against the Broncos it will be a slaughter house.

Hoping one of our blokes smashes that overrated tosser Slater.

Wow forgot where I was for a second then remembered I must be on a newcastle knights forum as they are the next team that has to face the storm. Anyone that says Slater is overrared clearly has no idea about the NRL, id even be suprised if you know the rules?

I commend the guys on here giving honest predictions. I agree it will be close, but the Storm will come out on top. You are trying to take away from the storms wins, when realistically, you beat a Bulldogs side through their errors not your great work...

Storm deserve the respect going into this game, if Knights go in with an attitude that most the fans on here have, they will be heading back to newy with their tails between their legs.

BTW - I support neither of these teams, i just registered to post this as I was outraged at the total biased comments on here, I suppose if i want a good match review with honest opinions for a game I shouldn't go looking at the underdogs forum...

You for real mate?

I don't find anything wrong with his post, apart from this bit:

I thought we were pretty clinical & good against the Dogs. :p Obviously you didn't watch the Knights very closely if you didn't think they were great.

I agree Slater isn't overrated at all and whoever said that probably didn't fully mean it.

We have just as much of a chance as Melbourne, why don't you come on a forum and give the members respect.

All teams deserve respect, who cares if it is Melbourne or Cronulla?

This is a Knights forum, of course there will be bias, even if it is unintentional.

I agree and im a knights fan whoever thinks slater is overrated has no idea what they are on about hes clearly the best fullback in the game atm and it is a distant second.

I believe Slater is over-rated.

Im not saying he isnt a good player but lately you cant read an NRL article without his name in it.

Well I guess I just have no idea about the NRL and dont really know the rules :p

We welcome visitors here of all views (except for Manly ones!)

it's definitely alright for you to say we don't have a chance (even some of the Newy fans are saying the same too) but if you came on here expecting anything different than bias then your foresight leaves something to be desired.

After a win we are a place of optimism, misplaced, hopeless or warranted. After a bad loss we are the first to admit our team played terribly. But what's the point of supporting a team if you turn on them every time they come up against somebody who is expected to win? If you don't give them a chance, why would the players give themselves a chance?

Just exactly what attitude should the boys take into the next match if not cautious optimism (which is the general consensus, except for those that are confident of a big win)?

He has scored doubles in every game this year something nobody else has done of course hes going to be all over the NRL news.

Darius Boyd now there is an overrated player

Agree and disagree.

I've seen Boyd's best games and he really is the second best fullback on his day. He hasn't found his feet at the knights yet that's for sure but when he does, watch out. He used to run back from fullback and make breaks like mental.

Slater is the best player in the game at the moment too. I say it time and time again but it is almost impossible to find open space from a kick unless you kick it over the dead ball line, he's just as fast in the 79th minute as he is in the first, and he is so so so good at running in support not only because he's freakishly strong but he does it all the time. If you need to offload it into a gap, Billy will be there. Couple that with the best try saving tackler in the game and you really have a pretty much complete player (yeah Gidley is a great tackler, but he doesn't hold people up over the line like Slater does)

This, the raging boner the media has over him is getting old quickly.
He makes a **** ton of errors can't pass, kick and one on one defence whilst brilliant at times is suspect at other times, he's a great support player and athlete but his isn't the best player in the world, he's not even the best player in his team.
Also 'Laps' I could not possibly care less about your opinion, troll elsewhere.

You obviously have not seen him play very much with that assessment. hes the best player in broken play, best fullback making one on one tackles, he makes a few errors but touches the ball alot more than other players and sets up alot of tries so i dunno what you are on about. IMO he is better than cronk but is evenly matched with smith due to his leadership qualities and workrate on the field
