Good chance to continue St George's pain if we turn up this week. Knights by 10.

Hope so but if Ponga stays out and Watson looks extremely doubtful back to Cogger so not good.

If both teams play like they did on the weekend, we win.
    Dragons were pretty bad.

Why Old Boys Day will be a HUGE event

    Newcastle Knights
    Mon 27 Aug 2018, 02:58 PM

Old Boys Day is going to be huge.

The nib Newcastle Knights are at home for the final game of the season, hosting St George Illawara from 3pm on Saturday, September 1.

With so much going on, we've pulled together an ultimate guide to Round 25 so you don't miss a thing.

Gates open at 12.30pm with our Jersey Flegg Knights hosting the Qualifying Final against Mounties at 12.40pm.

The 20s will battle it out with the winner only one game away from a grand final appearance.

Outside the ground, there's a ton going on.

You're guaranteed to find something for everyone with our Match day sponsor, McDonald Jones Homes, hosting their very own Old Boys Day Photo Booth, and have invited a few special guests to celebrate the day.

From gates until kick off, be sure to visit their marquee in the Fan Zone where Members and fans can celebrate the Club's two historic milestones with the 1997 and 2001 Grand Final trophies.

Have your photo taken alongside the two trophies. Each person will receive their very own polaroid to take home and an extra special version to share and post on your social media.

The booth will get a little more exclusive when some of our premiership winning powerhouses, including Kurt Gidley and Mark Hughes make a special appearance.

The fan zone also features McDonald's, Kelly Trotter Motor Group, Face painting, Inflatable bungee run, Oakvale Farm mobile petting zoo, Brydens Lawyers, KOFM, Buy a Bale and a Buy a Bale semi-trailer.

At Old Boys Day, we are encouraging all the members and supporters for both the Knights and Dragons to give generously to support Rural Aid's Buy A Bale campaign to help Australian farmers.

Inside the stadium, we will acknowledge our Australian schoolboys' representatives, plus the cheerleaders and Old Boys will be on show.

The Old Boys Hall of Famers will be presented to the crowd and taking part in a lap of honour.

The NRL kicks off at 3pm with the Old Boys providing a Guard of Honour for the Knights as they run out onto the ground.

At halftime, McDonald Jones Homes will host an inflatable ball relay and present a cheque to Buy a Bale.

At fulltime, be sure to stick around with several presentations set to take place.

First, Mitchell Pearce will be presented the match ball with the halfback's 250th NRL game being acknowledged this weekend.

Pearce clocked the milestone up while playing the Warriors.

We will also farewell our departing players.

You won't want to miss the speeches and, of course, the lap of honour to thanks the red and blue faithful for turning out.

    See you at the game!

    From Fox Sports

THE Dragons are in free fall with James Graham and Matt Dufty having run-ins with fans and a cameraman after their brutal 38-0 loss to the Bulldogs.

Graham clashed with a cameraman who was trying to film an injured Jason Nightingale on the sidelines.

The team was also booed by angry Dragons’ fans both at half-time and full-time of the thrashing, and the players immediately reacted.

Graham had a fan throw his Dragons scarf at him and exchanged tense words walking into the tunnel.

Six million dollar man Ben Hunt also had to put up with a lot of vitriol from the home fans at Jubilee Oval, after another below par display.

Benched Dragons’ fullback Matt Dufty couldn’t hold back onTtwitter after the match, when he let fly at the fans who targeted players with boos and insults.

“Without being rude, they need to wake up to themselves,” Dufty said.

“We’ve made the finals. Instead of throwing criticism they could show us some support.

“We try not to focus on external noise but it’s hard not to when it’s your own fans.”

A video of an angry Dragons fan setting fire to their jersey also emerged on Instagram Sunday, with the caption “f***ing useless c***s”.

Dragons’ coach Paul McGregor was visibly shaken in the post match press conference.

    “It’s shattering,” McGregor said.

Stand in skipper Tyson Frizell was also struggling to contain his emotions after the match

“It is very disappointing,” Tyson Frizell added.

“It’s hard to cop that from the fans.”

The Dragons sit in sixth position on the ladder heading into their final round clash with the Knights, with a home final still a real possibility.

However, having only won two of their past nine games, it is difficult to see them making an impact in September.

Well we know that our blokes will have a crack like always. Can’t be confident against St George though, we never bloody beat them at home.

Kind of more excited about Flegg to be honest, they get more impressive every time I watch them.

That'd be one interesting show to put on, will it be family-friendly? Sounds more like Mad Monday to me

Flegg are going from strength to strength. Last game they played they beat the second best team in the comp without Saulo, Starling, Cooper, Fermor, Andrews and Toa (all playing higher grades) and were also missing Loughrey and Musgrove (injured). That would be their 7 best players all out.

Soft dragons supporters, try three spoons in a row, never booed them, never heard anyone else boo them.

These guys don't know what losing is. Lets show em this weekend.

Not that i'm wanting him to miss out, but if Fitz is unable to play it would be a great chance to give Brodie Jones a run and let him go into the off season as a firstgrader.

I wouldn’t be too confident. Nobody plays a team into form quite like us.

Thinking selection this week will include Lillyman and Heighinton as farewell game so if Fitz is fit means a bench player has to go, probably Yates with Cogger in if both Watson and Ponga out.
If Fitz out could put Lillyman starting prop with Esee to 13, bench as last week.
