Everything that EASBay17 said is correct though. I was very happy for the boys and very glad to see them win. But, we were certainly helped by the fact that French was gone after 5 minutes and Moses didn't last the first half.

We played much better last night than we did against Cronulla, better line speed and far more aggression in defence, but if we lost Ponga after 5 and one of our halves before half time, not to mention the sin bin, I doubt the result would be the same. We absolutely need to improve again on what we did last night if we are to beat the Roosters. That's not a criticism, just an observation.

And I guess he didn't mention the two tries taken off us by incorrect refs calls either?

No point complaining about the ref after a loss, teams don't lose due to the ref, they lose because they were not good enough, had injuries etc.

Team will need to show the same enthusiasm in D next week, and take every chance we get to beat the Roosters. Can't afford to give the ball back to the chooks cheaply.

Refs are good when we win and terrible when we lose I've noticed.

Just a follow up regarding Moeroa's hit on Heighington

    Thoughts ??

    From NRL.com

Tepai Moeroa has been hit with a grade-three offence for his shoulder charge on Newcastle veteran Chris Heighington at ANZ Stadium.

He will miss three weeks if he enters an early guilty plea but five games if he unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the judiciary.

We could’ve easily have scored 4 more. The call against Buhrer wasn’t held at all, still plenty of momentum and never touched the ground, Ponga’s cut out to Sio, Fitzgibbon if he wasn’t taken out by Jennings and after Sio broke down field and Ponga kicked on the second.

Sounds about right. Was a pretty solid hit, connected with the head, no attempt to tackle.

Surprised to see such a heavy charge. Don't see that a lot these days. Was a pretty nasty hit so think it's justified.

Bad enough to miss the next 3-5 games but not bad enough to miss even 10 minutes against the team he actually disadvantaged.

And that is why the idea of putting it on report is the easy soft option for all referees these days!

Truth is, the match review committee pull out all of these (and others) so the 'on report' call is a waste of time and just a cop out that means the team affected by the foul play are the only one's that don't get any benefit:fist:

This shoulder charge was no better nor worse than the one on JT last week that meritted one lousy week!

Now all of a sudden three weeks?

I think the suspension is adequate. It was a blatant shoulder charge that made contact to the head, and late too.

I don't disagree Matty three weeks is fine by me. Just think the hit on JT could have been just as serious injury wise and only one week dished out.

Moeroa has taken the Early plea so 3 games for him and Jack Gosiewski also took the early plea for his hit on JT and will miss 2 games

Personally I think they both deserved a month minimum, They have to come down hard on these cheap shots

This helps the next couple of teams they play but do not help the team that possibly has an injured player they need to start punishing them in the game

The next time someone puts on a shot like Moeroa and Gosiewski give the belted player's team a shot for goal 10m out in front and the ball back from the kick off. Won't be long before they think about it.

As good as DanS was still only made the bench, those Burgess boys were very very good
