If Hagan was still here Gagai would be staying for another 4 years on one million a season.

    Correction Beatell.

All of Souths are having a shocker. Just not interested after a hard game against the Storm and with a short turn around.

I just read that Gagai is our worst defender so far this season 39 missed tackles... He was our second worst defender last season behind Hodkinson with 62 missed Hodkinson had 69 and Dane was our worst defender in 2015 with 63 missed ....He hasn't scored many try's for us if I remember right and imo has a hard time passing the ball to his winger ....I'm kinda thinking he wont be that hard to replace at centre especially if we are willing to spend the $700,000 he wanted .... Apparently even Qld who were going to put him to centre have changed they're minds ....

Changed their mind? Boyd was always going to play centre with Slater in the 1.
Boyd is much better defensively and Gagai has been killing it on the wing for QLD.

That's what I just read that he was going to play centre but they are thinking now that he wont be able to hold out Nsw right side Pairing so they will leave him on the wing .

After five games as Queensland’s right wing, Gagai was expected to move to centre, pairing up with Holmes. But there is speculation that Boyd will instead play left-side centre for the first time in almost a decade, alongside Holmes.

Gagai would then stay on the wing, outside Chambers.

It would appear the Maroons are concerned by the Newcastle’s speedster’s defence and his ability to contain NSW’s powerful left edge, in particular Jarryd Hayne and Boyd Cordner........ This was in the herald mate .....

All the crap you posted is speculation using such phases as "It would appear"
Do you think they pick a side without knowing who's playing where? Lol

    Farewell Dane Gagai

    Mon 11th September, 04:37PM

Over the next two weeks the nib Newcastle Knights farewell the Club's departing players of 2017 by looking back over their time at the Club.

Up first is Dane Gagai, who made 127 NRL appearances for the nib Newcastle Knights.

The Queensland representative arrived at the Knights back in 2012, and in the five years since his strong form at Club level has seen him play seven matches for the Maroons, three for the Indigenous All Stars and one for the Prime Minister's XIII.

In this farewell, Gagai's teammates and coach discuss what they admired and appreciated most about him.

    Nathan Brown:

The thing I like most about Gags is how much he competes.

Off the back of Origin he has come back to a Club that will not be taking part in finals footy, and at times played with injuries that could have put his Origin spot at risk.

    Trent Hodkinson:

With Dane you know he is going to give 100 per cent, no matter what.

He's an X-factor type of player.

    Jamie Buhrer:

Considering his size he's incredibly strong.

"You think you can whack him because he looks like a skinny fella, but he's very strong."

    Daniel Saifiti:

I was probably a bit starstruck when I came into the side last year, but now I consider him a good mate of mine he's always ready to listen and share his exprience with us younger boys.

    Sione Mata'utia:

When I first started out he was always helpful.

Before I debuted he definitely gave me a few tips and told me to be confident.

    Dane Gagai:

I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me and the Newcastle Knights.

You're the best fans out there and your resilience is second to none.

I'm definitely going to miss you all, but this Club has a bright future.

Souths averaged crowds at around 10k this year, absolutely embarrassing considering their membership numbers on top of winning the comp in 2014. Playing at a dead ANZ stadium nearly every week would be depressing.

Yep, I don't care what anyone says but I reckon Dane will regret his move. Newcastle have far more upside than Souths right now.

Remember they give away souths cares membership to about 15000 indigenous people that cant afford to get to the game, write it off as a tax expense, than use said money to give GI as a third party.
