    Knights movin' on up

The Newcastle Knights made easy pickings of the Sydney on the Central Coast with a 32-18 win to set themselves for an under-the-radar run home.
The Roosters aren't exactly the most the formidable side in the competition at the moment but the Knights potentially have another eight competition points at their mercy in the final four rounds, including a round 26 bye.

The eastern suburbs side presented a possible slipped stitch for the Knights as they look to knit their way into the finals over the clutch of teams around them but from the opening minute Newcastle showed they were not going to take it easy on the Roosters.

The Knights take on fellow finals aspirants the Manly Sea Eagles next week but they have the advantage of playing them at home in Newcastle and then before the last round bye Newcastle come up against a flat North Queensland Cowboys and the Penrith Panthers.

The upshot is that the Knights might even slip into a place in the top four, especially with the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Brisbane Broncos on the slide.

Danny Buderus and captain Andrew Johns led the way for Knights in Gosford scoring the opening two tries – Buderus claiming his inside the opening minute.

By halftime the Knights were up 26-6 and well and truly in control of the game, Chris Bailey making his first grade debut at five-eighth scored as did forward Luke Davico.

Roosters five-eighth Brett Finch enjoyed a trip to the sinbin in the second half just before Riley Brown scored Newcastle's fifth.

Iosia Soliola picked up a try for the Roosters just before Finch re-entered the fray but it was of little consolation

Haven't heard anything about Carney, but Smith might have broken his jaw.
