I'm not a fan of soccer but I'm very happy for the Jets. Any team in any sport that represents Newcastle I'm in their corner. Such a shame a huge number of Jets fans hate the Knights with a passion.

I support the jets. Not like the knights but I loved watching them beat Sydney fc with 10 blokes. Showed true newcastle fighting spirit last night. Something I hope the knights can replicate throughout this season.

Any idea how many of the Jets are local products, just for the 'purists'?

Northern NSW Soccer was a breeding ground for top players in years gone by.

I don't think northern nsw is the breeding ground it used to be at the time of kb united but i still think locals make up about half the side witch id not to bad

The thing is that it's a game which dominates world wide and the players available to clubs is astounding. Imagine having to pick a team with players from the nrl combined. You would end up with one awesome team. As for locals. NFI haha.

Holy crap... did you see that goal. I've never watched the Jets but happened to be watching it and that's possibly the goal of a century?

The commentators said it was a scorpion kick. An unbelievable goal!

The grand final is gonna be in Newy!!! Who knew after 8 years out of the finals this could've been possible?

Let's pray that this magic rubs off onto the Knights. Hopefully when Pearce gets back earlier than expected we'll have a epic charge for the title!

Im suprised the FFA hasnt aproached the nrl about moving our game or postponing it. With abit of rain friday night it may get chopped up pretty bad.

Beaten tonight 1-0 by a very controversial goal. Anyway well done to the jets. Showing true newcastle spirit.

Old mate kicking their goalie in the head was about the only highlight for the Jets tonight.

Desperation at its finest. Jets needed goals in the first half and had plenty of chances just couldn't capitalise. Melb just grinded it out till the end. Jets gave up..... Sounds rather familiar.

Nothing controversial about the goal Dan.

The two Victory forwards were just dead set a metre offside.

Nice to know that the video refs are just as sh*t in other codes.
