Browny was pretty fired up over an article by Robert Dillon regarding Daine Laurie

Daine is in jail facing charges, including wounding with intent to murder, after two alleged shooting incidents on the north coast last year

Browny's issue was the fact Dillon linked him to the Knights, The headline read "Former Newcastle Knights forward Daine Laurie has been refused bail over alleged shooting incidents"

Fiery Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown lashes journo in fiery press conference

A FURIOUS Newcastle coach Nathan Brown has blown up at a reporter in a fiery end to his post-game press conference on Friday.

Brown was surprisingly resolved throughout the press conference after his Knights were beaten by the Roosters in a gritty game, marred by a controversial bunker decision in the second half.

But his mood swung when asked by a newspaper journalist about reports the NRL had finalised the sale of the Hunter club to Wests Group.

The question didn’t bother the coach, but Brown took the opportunity to have a serious crack at the journo who had written an article earlier in the week about former NRL player Daine Laurie, who was charged with serious offences and jailed.

Laurie was briefly contracted to the Knights in 2012.

He has been charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling or house with disregard for safety, causing wounding to a person with intent to murder, and discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail in court.

“Whether these things have happened, it’s not for me to comment on I suppose. That’s for the NRL and Wests,” Brown said of the NRL’s supposed sale.

“For the club, you might have to write something positive (name) ... that might be tough for you to do but it would be good.

“That was horrible linking Daine to us the other day, bud. That was sad. The Daine Laurie story that you linked to us was sad.

“I understand you write plenty of bad things mate, negative things when we’re not winning, I don’t mind getting a hard time.

“But doing that ... you should try to do something good if you get the opportunity. Maybe the Wests thing might make you do it.”

I've always considered Dillion to be a deadbeat, what's his beef with the Knights Billy?

Love it Brownie, keep it up. The more people within the NRL whether it be coaches/players or whoever put scum journalists in their place, the better.

I don't think he would have had an issue if all the clubs were referred to but Dillon might need a Bennett sort of ban lol.

There was absolutely nothing in that article for Brown to get riled up about. He was a former contracted Knights player?

It includes the knights. Which is why he fired up. Good to see he cares about the club in that way.

Good on Brown that was a rubbish article and Laurie played a handful of reserve games for the Knights that all if you wanted to link him to a club it would have to be the Tigers. Dillon runs the Knights down at every chance and cheer leads the Jets as a bigger soccer fan his desperate for soccer to grow bigger than league in newcastle which will never happen even at our lowest point we draw nearly twice as many fans with the jets averaging just 8k a game, hell the jets highest crowd last year was less than 12k if we drew that it would be considered a poor crowd not a season high.

It was so funny. Good on him for having a crack at him, was such a stupid article and to link him to us after playing a handful of reggies games for us is ridiculous and irrelevant.

R Dillon has proved for many years to be the mail version of Bec Wilson. Such a flog
