Depends what you're looking for. Ramien is more of the power running and can set up the outside man while Tuala is agile and more elusive with ball in hand and better defensively who probably is better suited to FG from the get go. Couldn't split them but will be interesting as to who can kick on quicker but I rate them both.

Is there any chance that the Sharks would release him immediately, so he can play for us this year.

They've already lost Beale and Bird from last year and only signed injury prone gray so doubt it.

Good to see contracts being enforced actually.

Plus Dugan who will likely find himself in the centres with either VH or Moylan going to FB

I know you cant believe what the Lurker says.
But they reported that Ramien signed with us because he wanted to be closer to his child on the central coast.
Its possible the Sharks might let him come this year because of it.

only watched the first half of sharks trial but he looked solid! 1 good try and almost a TS only for Katoa to lose it over the line

Yeah he broke out of a few tackles and carried a player over the line to score. Looks like a tough bugger to bring down even though he's not real big.

So is this a depth signing at this stage? Or the unsigned siones replacement?

    Insurance for sure.

I said it in another thread I'm not convinced they have a lot of intentions of resigning Sione. All along it has been reported we are in the market for a good centre signing. If we signed a good centre, where does that leave Sione?

I'm convinced they are not banking on retaining Sione, and are looking at signing a Centre to slot in to his position.

Well we don't really know that they even had any intention of moving Sione to the centres anyway. The call was only made late last year because we weren't able to sign anyone decent. For all we know, Sione could still have been in the forwards, but in a lesser role. Unless Sione really surprises us this year, I think Ramien will walk into his spot next year.

I'm by no means a fan of Sione in the centre's. But the idea that Ramien would walk into the spot, is a little forgetful, to say the least

I understand Sione lacks that agility, flair and an ability to beat his man. Or at least he is yet to show that he can do it in the centre's. But There is soooo much more to footy than being able to burn your man. And I'm telling you, Sione has all the rest of it in spades.

He has the heart of Paul Harrigon, the desire of Kurt Gidley. He is a the player that every premiership squad has at least one of

Im hoping he can pull a rabbit out of a hat, because he has a list of attributes that are more difficult to find that Ramiens ability to run the ball

I haven't even seen Ramien play, but the fact that we gave a 2-year deal to a Junior Kangaroo, Holden cup team of the year centre, that was apparently being chased by multiple clubs but was convinced to come here because of what was written as a "pathway that was too good to knock back", then combined with the fact that Sione was never meant to be back in the centres this year. All of that, to me, makes it seem pretty clear that he will be lining up alongside Moga in the centres next year, or at least the coaches hope he will be good enough to. Sione has a chance to change this, but I honestly don't know that Sione has anything left in the bag to show us that we don't already know about him. Second-row was his perfect position, but concussions & size work against him.

With a couple forwards leaving or likely to leave i could see Sione moving back to 2rf. Maybe off the bench? Ramien would be a much better option at center imo

I believe he had family here or at least in this area and wanted to be closer to them. Could be wrong with that tho.

But we would have 1 hell of an exciting backline.
