The recent release is good for the stability of the team moving forward, with the long term Coaching is in place, the next thing to address is the attitude of the team to losing.

Losing is tolerated if you are having a go and there are heaps in the team that are , it is the ones that don't do their job week in week out that are starting to grind thin.

If we don't have the recruits then the second tier needs to be addressed so there is depth to cover for the inevitable injury through out the season, this can be done by getting boarder line players who have something to offer, at the right price , happy to play wherever the Club needs them, unfortunately this is hard to expect from the young up and comers as the new attitude is to get as far as they can in as little time as possible - Loyalty is lost.

Big enough rant for now !! Doesn't make last weeks loss any easier to bear.

Gardner says Brown is just about to sign every 2weeks or so.
    Brown says nothing.

I imagine that Brown might be asking for more, not money but players of the right caliber so he can then coach a more successful side for a few years. He wouldn't want to be stuck with this team without improvements and be known as the exKnights coach who failed over a 4-5 year period.

    Gardener says:

“We are saying lets get together and build a club for the next five, 10 or 20 years. We want to put people in place and systems in place to have a tremendous dynasty. Like Melbourne like the Broncos.”

Long term approach sounds good to me.

Gardener is the perfect CEO to over see building the new facilities at the back of the stadium.
He has spent the last 20 or 30 years building new clubs and upgrading the old ones, and it's what he does best.
These new facilities will be built on time, on budget, and will be just what we need to compete with other clubs.
Players who come here will have facilities the equal of any in any sport.

Gardner has sounded like a smart man every time he talks, either that or I'm just holding him in too high of a regard because we've had Matt Gidley as our CEO for 4-5 years.
    Hope Gardner sticks around

I'm happy with that, it's a win-win for the club and coach.

If he ends up becoming our longest-serving coach that's a great sign we're succeeding. Hopefully the '97 and '01 premiership trophies get some more company...

There should be no complaints with it being performanced based. Hopefully the bar is set at a reasonable height.

As brown said in the video, every coach is on a performance based contract. No performance, no more contract.

Good it is signed now and out of the way, definitely prior to june 30 if we are looking to attract any players here, shows stability. And given he and mooney have been able to attract some decent talent here, whatever they are showing prospective recruits seems to be able to get the ones realistically considering us, over the line.

Assuming Brown tanks next year, who is available? Not stirring the pot but he will get a pass mark this year considering the injuries. Plus we should finish 10-12 (I hope). The board will obviously have targets given a performance based contract can be easily ended.

Plus, having Ross on bench last night was mental. Pure fluke that he came in handy.

Buhrer could've covered center for 9 minutes and Felise could have shown us what he's got .

Exactly. Did he explain it? Surely he doesn’t think he can name a bench like that and all the fans just get it?!?! And what must some of the other forwards think?

I think Ross was there in case Meaney got nervous and had a shocker.

It's not his job for the fans to get it, it's his job to win games. We won last night by a a boot leather thickness. I wonder what the commentary would have been had we lost?

You can't name a winger on the bench and leave them there for 70 minutes. Thats bonkers.

Likewise, you can't name a forward on the bench and give them 12 minutes at the death. Bonkers.

Our biggest issue is we lose every game in the forwards, we lost the forward battle again last night. Yet here he is taking two spots and taking them nearly completely out of the game. Most teams will struggle big time with two less interchange players in a game.

If Ross was there in case Meaney had a shocker then Ross could have been named at Centre, with Denniss out, and if Meaney had a shocker move Ross to FB, meaney to bench and shuffle buhrer to centre. Absolutely no point putting Ross on the bench to just sit there.
