She's not done till she's done. We should wait for the announcements. Already we've seen the media telling us that Jack Bird is coming here & Connor Watson has signed with the Tigers. We've got Ponga, Kenny-Dowall & Guerra, confirmation from Bennett about Ese'ese so far.

What do we think about Dylan Pythian role next year Do we play him on the wing or on the bench as a utility or reserve grade now we signed Watson.

If they can get him fit, he can literally play any position from 1-7 or 9, and he can be an extra kicker from any of those positions. He'll get a run somewhere if he gets fit.

Ese'ese and Moga's cooling off period is over... Watson signed, but still in cooling off.

The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Connor Watson has signed a three-year contract with the Club, commencing in 2018.

Watson made his NRL debut at the Sydney Roosters in 2016 and has played 30 NRL games.

This year, the 21-year-old was named the Auckland Nines’ Player of the Tournament and also represented Country in the City Country Origin match.

“Connor is an exciting young talent who has plenty of great football ahead of him,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“There is no doubt Connor will grow with our team and be a great addition to the Club.”

Watson joins Kalyn Ponga, Tautau Moga and Aidan Guerra at the Club in 2018, as well as Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who made his Club debut last weekend.

“It has been pleasing to announce a number of signings for next season, as we continue to build our squad with a mix of local juniors, emerging talent and experience,” Gidley concluded.

The Club would like to acknowledge the Sydney Roosters for releasing Watson from his contract.

    2018 looking better now.

Don't think we will make the 8 but surely they will win more than a few games.

At the moment our round 1 2018 spine is
    1. Ponga (20)
    6. Watson (21)
    7. Lamb (21)
    9. Levi (22)

We will be wildly inconsistent but damn it'll be entertaining football, I think the game management of Maloney will be so the final piece of the puzzle for us being a top 8 threat

For mine 7 Watson 6 Phythian with Cogger and Lamb pushing for a spot.

As I said Maloney is not an issue. Looks like Coopper Cronk has signed with Foxtel after joining this weekend's commentary team at WIN Stadium.

Now that Watson is signed and Brown has said he sees him as our 5/8 I guess there's only room for one of Lamb, Cogger, Pythian or Feeney and that's if we don't sign Maloney and get rid of Hodko.

Obviously Feeney is gone and we could probably hang onto the other 3 for next year but moving forward what's the plan?

I can see Pythian being a handy utility but for Lamb and Cogger they seem to be now in competition for the 7 jersey. I guess the dream of seeing those two in the halves in first grade is over?

If Watson is basically a running half, the other guy will have to be a bit of a lone playmaker.
None of our guys really seem to be ready for that.
    Lamb is the closest.

I just read that Maloney is not leaving the Sharks next year he has been told he will not be let go ...Watson has been told he has the 6 jumper and Hodko has bad knees as reported again yesterday so imo it will be between Lamb and Pythian for the 7 jumper and if Pythian can stay on the paddock Lamb will have a fight on his hands for it ....

A running 6 in Watson with a running makeshift half in Pythian

Hodko will get first crack imo, then Lamb and Coggar.

Pythian will be suiting up for the 14 jumper and used at hooker with the ability to cover 1-13 if need be

Tend to agree 88, although I reckon it'll be a genuine trial in the offseason for the 7.

No way Phythian is our 7 next year.
