100% 7 is there for the 3 guys to grab, though imo Brown will start the yr with hodko and let Lamb and Coggar grow as players in cup for the yr.... im pretty confident hodko will be gone after 2018 so mite as well get some good use out of him next yr if his playing well enough while letting the other boys grow a bit more.

Personally would of loved to have Coggar and Lamb take the nrl team on together next yr but its not to be.

I don't think Hodko will get the job. There is no way he will get a new contract after next year, so if any of the other guys is close to him, they should go with the young guy.

Pressure will be on Brown for results its time for wins. I expect Brown to pick the 17 to win each week and no more experiments. Next year even with the Roster as is the 8s a chance.

Does anyone know of an instance in the modern era where 2 rookie halves have driven their team deep into a series or even lived up to the hipe or weight of expectation?

Panthers and Tigers come to mind as recent examples , a couple more years for one and disarsterous experience for the other.

Seems most success comes from an experienced combination or at least an experienced scheming old head to control the situation with a free running partner to excite when released.

By current accounts we are happy with the first option of 2 inexperienced halves, unless Brownie is banking on a Hodko/ Watson blend, Hodko offers an almost anchor type control and Conner offers excitement of Xfactor with out direction.

Tigers had a pretty young side in 2005, but Scott Prince was in the halves.

Cronk or Maloney was what we needed for 2018, but I suppose we were never going to win a title in 2018 anyway, so trying to make the 8 and give a couple of 20 year olds valuable experience is where we are at.
Hodko might be a whole new man behind a decent pack, but he's not someone I'm thinking will lead us to glory any time soon.

Hodkos two good games have been the best play we've seen from a half all year. Pity about the ten bad games we had to endure to get them.

Thanks for that 88 , always open to informative information, still leaves a few unanswered questions .

Experience is different to How old they are, what was their development and support like in the preceding years ?
Had they been exposed to the full year of FG pressure or just the last period leading to the GF?
Did they have the benefit of a "progressive apprenticeship " or thrown in the deep end ?
Were they part of a new combination or had they been developing through the grades ?
Were they playing behind dominant packs ?

All 3 were new partnerships of mainly that yr, Cherry evens only debuted for Manly in rd1 2011 and went on to win the clive Churchill medal in the GF.

All 6 players had very good development through great junior systems.

They also all had fantastic rosters around them in first grade to help guide the path to the gf.

So to put it straight, our halves have had great junior development up till 19yrs old and done pretty much everything they could ( rep honors ) along the way.
There transition to first grade is where there development has hit a steep hill.

Being very talented juniors thrown into a dreadful first grade side has not helped them much imo, though with help on the way next yr!! They should start to find a new groove so to speak

Ross escorted from field and collapsed over sideline. Medicab from sideline.

Refs should have stopped the game.

What if ball got kicked there and players belted in to him.

Think Lamby can make a brilliant half with more intensive kick coaching. Bit tough on Jack Cogger not getting a run, but with Cogger, Phythian and Hodko, real competition for places which is great. Throw in Tom Hughes, Meaney, Moga, SKD and Ponga big changes in the backs next year.

Lamb has come a long way in the last year. His profile in some places has him listed as 179cm (5'10") and 85kg. The picture in the twitter fed on the main page at the moment has him standing next to Sione, who is roughly six foot, and Lamb towers over him by about 3 inches, so he is 4 or 5 inches taller than he was when that profile was made, and I'd guess 10kg heavier at about 95kg.
When he first played with the big boys in the 9s 2 years ago he was monstered in defence a few times. You don't see that now. He is rapidly becoming one of our better defenders, especially as a cover defender when someone makes a break, because he reads the play really well and is often the guy in the right position to make the tackle.
Another off season and Lamb could bulk up enough to be one of the biggest halves in the comp.
Brown has been saying recently that he really likes that Lamb now takes on the line, and the extra size he has now means he has no fear of doing that.
At 20, he probably hasn't got any more growth in him, but he can still bulk up a fair bit by the look of him. 100kg isn't out of the question.

Seeing him next to Yates Sione Hodko and Buhrer his definitely the taller of them, maybe his Hair line makes him look taller then he is, but id say his around 185cm

Him and Gagai are very same same for build and hight, i think gags is close to 6'2

With respect mate this season they have all come forward leaps and bounds so I disagree their baptism of fire has had an undue affect.

In fact they will value wins so much more and won't be complacent would be my take.
