I think it needs to be 6 interchanges or less. There are hardly any genuine ball players or zippy little players of the Matty Bowen/Preston Campbell ilk. The game is less exciting to watch. Changes need to happen and quickly before the next tv deal.

How about go back to the old days when they only interchanged for an injury or you were nearly dead out there.

2 fresh reserves and 2 that have played reserve grade that way they have to play reserve grade and 1st grade at the same ground the way it should be ...

I thought it interesting Brown in a recent presser talking about reducing the interchange and bring some more fatigue in to the game.

I would say the Knights have not been very good with fitness and fatigue in general, not one of our strongest points.

Bit hard to gauge when we never win the possession or momentum for long enough to be even with the opposition.

    From The Herald

“Honestly, I was a bit pissed off about it [not being in the top grade],” Levi told the Newcastle Herald on the eve of the Knights’ clash against the Eels at McDonald Jones Stadium.

“I can’t help how I was feeling. I thought I had done enough to prove that I belonged there but those types of things happen. I know it is not just me.

“There was no use kicking stones but I felt like I deserved to be in the first grade squad which is why I thought about looking elsewhere.”

“At the time I was playing reggies but I thought I’d done enough to at least earn a bench spot.”

“There was no other club involved but I was confident at the time if I got the release, I could get picked up somewhere else,” he said.

“It was more so me just being really unhappy because I honestly believed my form warranted being picked and I didn’t know why I wasn’t.

“But after talking to Browny about it, he just reassured me I was one of the guys they wanted to keep for the future of the club. They didn’t want me to go and weren’t going to let me go.

“Deep down, I’m happy here. I love Newcastle and I love playing for Newcastle. I’m glad I’m staying.

“But at the time, I just thought it was what I needed to do for my own future.”

That's enough of being honest Danny Levi. What happened to the usual cliches ?

He isn't the only one who felt they weren't valued or wanted.
In fact, although he is now saying all the "right" things, he'll never win an academy award with his flat and unconvincing delivery. He looks like a hostage with someone holding a gun to his back.

No matter what now is Levi's chance to show what he is made of and what he's got similar to Saf boys show us, Heighinton and Lillyman are going so fire up, think they both have a bit of let down or taking position for granted.

In the game before Levi came back to firstgrade he played against Wyong and Nathan Brown was there watching him.
Levi played 80 minutes, had 2 try assists, tackled his heart out, ran himself ragged, even took on the goal kicking duties and did some of the tactical kicking.
By the end of the game the Wyong players were calling to run at Levi because they could see he had run himself to the point of exhaustion and was refusing to go off, even though the trainer was almost trying to drag him off. They kept running at Levi and he kept dragging them down.
In short, Levi did everything he possibly could to force Brown to pick him.

Lets hope that is the benchmark he steps up to this evening.

I am a Levi fan and want to see him continue to develop with us - after watching Cook in SOO this series, that is the standard that Danny needs to aspire to...I think he has a similar build and has the attributes to rise to that level but he needs to step up consistently to take his game to the next level

The only reason Levi hasn't stepped up is because Brown has him out of first grade and prefers Griffin.

I have no idea why, Levi is the better hooker. Shown tonight, better game than Griffin has put in for us.

I prefer Griffin in defense but Levi is the more dangerous player IMO. Levi will have this spot nailed for seasons to come if he builds on last nights performance for the remainder of this year.

He was awesome last night. He sometimes over plays his hand a bit in attack but I thought he got the balance right with backing himself and giving it to Pearce when the time was right

Levi has it all over slade with the ball in hand his service is a lot crisper, offensively slade is better but levi has really improved his defence IMO and is not that far off slade but overall levi offers a lot more IMO.

Ohhh i still put Slades game vs the Roosters as a good effort.
Huge try saver that really did keep us in the game till the end plus another bunch of great hits and some good runs with some clever short balls at the line.

Levi looked better because Parra are pretty bad.
I think Griffin starting and Levi coming on after 20 to play the last 60 at hooker gives us the best of all worlds.
Griffin is the better defender and a capable forward as well, and less minutes means Levi can go harder from dummy half.
I think it works so well we should start with Buhrer doing his best to replace Griffin as starting hooker next week.

Just need to stop getting injuries, if we can get any sort of long amount of time between Levi, Pearce, Watson & Ponga, their combinations should be awesome offensively.

Exactly what Brown said last night, he said Levi has had to work hard on becoming more of a team player than playing for himself & that he thought last night was probably his best game in that regard. That presumably must be why Brown has had his issues with him, wanted him to find a balance.
