I think if Meaney comes good from his injury most clubs would be interested in him quality player, relatively cheap due to lack first grade exposure. Think he going to be in first grade before the end of season and once there I doubt he will go back to reggies

I've never been a fan because he isn't a try scorer.

Keep Meaney, buy Woods, we are short of top class backs

Meaney is behind Ponga and Watson and we also have Matt Cooper, Tex Hoy, Bradman Best and Star Toa all looking very good in the juniors, and even Brent Naden doing very well at fullback - so really, Meaney is no hope of making firstgrade and has about 5 guys breathing down his neck.
If he could play wing it would be a different story - he would be a chance to replace Sio next week if he were to play well at wing today.

Most of them still need at least a year before can play first grade with the 18 yrs rule. I also don't see him as a fullback long term he is a goal kicking winger, he makes very few mistakes, is very quick and is a big enough body while not huge to get the sets started right, and he has good hands. The kid can pass and has a few try assists to his name so even if he is not scoring he can get the ball on wrap then turn it back in to support coming through like your ponga and watson. If they where able to play now I don't think we would be looking for another outside back just middle players. Besides I don't think any of those players will play first grade where they are playing now so will have to learn different positions shouldn't be hard for them they have all the skills

Put this in the who cares basket. If they want to take our strugglers like Holland and cogger I'm pretty confident they won't be a threat for a while.

Meaney is off contract anyways so we couldn't use him as a trade piece.

Has apparently signed there for the next 3 years. Looks like Naden will be the next in line if Ponga were to get injured.

Not sure why we didn’t try him as a winger

Meaney is a far, much far, better f/b than Naden, what are we doing letting our better performed young locals go, Junior SOO, reserve grade f/b of the year 2017 I believe, kicks goal, sets up tries, fast and fit could play wing, sorry but no place for you, GOODBYE

We aren't letting him go. He wants to play fullback and got an offer to be first choice fullback elsewhere so he took it.

He won't be if they sign Coote (who they're apparently going in hard for)...

No real difference to ponga leaving cowboys for an opportunity, can’t hold it against him
