Bit of speculation he could be coming over to the NRL

Someone we should be looking at or no ??? Do we even need him ???

Keen to see what you guys think

    From Sky Sports

Newcastle, Parramatta, Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra are among the clubs thought to be ready to give the 27-year-old Walmsley the chance to join his England World Cup team-mates Gareth Widdop, James Graham, Elliott Whitehead, Josh Hodgson, Sam Burgess, Tom Burgess and Chris Heighington in the NRL.

"I think I've signed for about nine different clubs in the last six weeks," said Walmsley. "There has been a lot of interest but that's as far as it's gone so far.

"It's all up in the air at the moment. I've got 12 months left at St Helens and there's a lot of conversations to be had between now and then.

"It's certainly something I've thought about and it's something I'm open to but what I can say is, if I don't do it now, I won't ever do it.

"If I want to do it, it's probably my last opportunity but that's not to say it's definitely going to happen. There's a lot of things to take into account."

Pulled this off the Super League's twitter account...I know the NRL is a tougher comp but these numbers are still very good

He got more metres than any other player in the comp last year in which he played 31 games

196cm and 115kg according to his profile

He's a great player from what I've seen. Would be awesome for him to replace/upgrade Heington for next year

The problem with buying a pom now is they would miss an NRL pre season.
Wardle missed the pre season last year and never looked like getting up to pace.

I only got a limited viewing of him from the World Cup, but he didn't strike me as a huge money Sam Burgess/James Graham type star player, maybe more like a Mike Cooper type player. Being an old fella too unlike Burgess & Graham when they came over, doesn't help the view of him. I wouldn't like to see anything like Lord's 800k spent, but I don't actually know what he'd be going for down under, probably much less than that. Maybe he will be a star though, who knows.

He's unproven in the NRL, which is to say that depsite how likely he is to succeed, his ceiling value for an initial contract would be about 600k imo

Ellis came over in his late 20’s and was great for the Tigers.

True but a backrower takes a lot less of a battering then a prop.

Ellis played pretty tough and was an 80 minute player. Walmsley is massive and seems an impact type of player. I’d say he does more damage to his opponents than they do to him.
