    It's hard to judge from highlights, but it looks like the Mathews squad has pace to burn. The first try Jonah Pezet sliced through the line and streaked away, as he did often last year, but after that about 3 other guys did the same thing.

    14-14 in Mathews at halftime.
    Very even game.
    We have more skill, but they have some giant forwards who are scoring barge over tries and keeping them in it.

    Good second half. Both sides have lifted.
    20 minutes and no score, then manly ran out of puff and knights scored two quick tries. 24-14 to the knights final score. It won,t surprise me if these teams play the grand final.

    4-4 with 10 to go in the first half in ball. Kodi Crowther scored. For the knights.

    24-14 loss.
    Manly look like a very strong side across the park.

    Weekes and Schuster are class. They are a level or two above Ball, be interesting to see if they can make the next step.

    The guys I was impressed with;

    Mathews
    Jonah Pezet - very different player to last year. He organised everything and really well.
    Noah Nailagoliva - hooker who reminds me of Terrence Seu Seu - very strong and aggressive in attack and defence - loves to go for a run, and not just to make easy metres, he runs hard.
    Chris Vealia - big powerful and fast guy who started out at fullback and made plenty of strong runs, then moved to centre and scored a powerful try. He also smashed a few guys in defence, knocking the ball loose a couple of times. I think he'd be the tallest in the side and maybe the heaviest too.

    Ball - forwards Christian Ma'anaima, Harry Croker and Cooper Jenkins were all pretty good. It's a pity Jaron Purcell was a late withdrawal.

    Noah started at lock/front row for Griffin's through juniors. His father played a league game for Fiji in 96. Definitely got mongrel genes.

    I could see him as a middle forward - a bit small for it, but goes hard.
