I've always thought Tex is a playmaker and belongs in the halves.
When he played under 16s he was our "go to" playmaker on the 5th tackle as a fullback, which was a bit funny to watch.
He has the cool, calm decision making abilities of a playmaker, and he is also a quality athlete. We haven't seen a guy with those attributes come through our juniors since Mullo really.
He still has a long way to go, but I hope he gets to spend an extended period at 5/8 and gets plenty of coaching from Dureau and Kostjasyn - and maybe his father's good friend, Andrew Johns, might give him a few tips. I can't remember where I read it, but I think I read years ago that Andrew Johns is his godfather. I know Tex is the son of professional surfer Matt Hoy, who used to hang out and surf with AJ back in the Merewether days.

Jersey Flegg Knights make it five from five

The Jersey Flegg Knights kept their perfect record running with a fifth consecutive win against the North Sydney Bears, defeating them 36-14 at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Three minutes in it was the Bears to score the first points via winger Ethan Abou-Ghaida. Kieran Hayman missed the conversion for the Bears to see the visitors lead 4-0.

After a hat trick last week, Tex Hoy was again the go-to man as he crashed through the defensive line to score the Knights' first try. Kurtis Dark added the extras to see the home side take the lead, 6-4.

Mistakes crept in from both sides but the Knights regrouped and in the 20thminute Nash Birch off-loaded to Mitch Andrews who side stepped his way to the line. Dark nailed the conversion to extend their lead 12-4.

Abou-Ghaida closed the gap, with the double 27 minutes in. The Knights led 12-8 at the halftime break.

In the second half, the Knights got across the line early but were held up, before Lachlan Farr crossed over in style for the Knights' third. Dark was unable to convert near the sideline for the Knights to extend their lead, 16-8.

Knights’ enforcer Tevita Alifa barrelled through the Bears defence to give the Knights some breathing room soon after, with Dark converting the try to bring the Knights to a 14 point lead.

The Knights looked promising in the second half with two tries in quick succession, with Mitchell Moon taking a precision pass to score. Quickly after, Farr went across for his double, bringing the Knights up 30-8.

A well-executed pass to fullback Cooper saw him tear through the middle on the halfway line, and sprint down the left side to score. Dark converted the try from the sideline to bring the Knights up 36-8 over the Bears.

    Summary

Knights 36 (T: Hoy, Andrews, Farr 2, Alifa, Moon, Cooper G: Dark 2/3)
    Bears 14 (T: Abou-Ghaida 2, G: Hayman 0/2)

I see Loughrey, Cooper, Hoy and Femour all join a large group of players from other teams on 4 tries to top the try scoring list.

Top of the table clash against the Sharks, but if you look at their form, they have had a bye, a close win against Saints (who we smashed), a draw against Saints (who we smashed) a close win against Manly (who we smashed) and they had a good win against the Roosters who are coming 6th.
We have scored over twice as many points as them, and since we have played 1 more game than them, our average points against is better than theirs too.
It's early days in the comp, but our form looks much better than theirs.
Loughrey comes back in and Birch drops out. Loughrey and Hoy both kick a bit, but Birch is our best tactical kicker, so we might miss that a bit.
Big Ofa in the centres. If he can hold the ball he'll cause some problems. Size of a prop, speed of a winger, hands like feet.
