Harry Van Dartel is another player who seems to have followed Simon Woolford from Canberra. He played under 20s for Canberra in the same side as Woolford's son.
Cronan loves to get involved and sometimes makes 20+ runs from the wing, so fullback might be a good fit for him.

We now have Cronan, Naden and Van Dartel from the Canberra system in our backline.

Woolford said in his match report that Hughes had to stay on injured with Meaney off and Sam Stone playing in the centres. No word on what was wrong with Hughes though.

NSWRL site is giving stats for every game of round 1 expect Newcastle v Manly - just saying stats are unavailable.

Was just looking at the draw and checking broadcast (this Saturday v Wests) and see we only get 6 games telecast even though it is now the second game to 1sts yet when u/20 was ranked 2nd we saw them most weeks.
Can't understand why not more of them are televised.
Question, do we get the Flegg-u/20 anytime or is that not an option.
Not a local to Newcastle and have foxtell

Newcastle Knights v Western Suburbs Magpies

    Date: Saturday, March 17
    Location: Leichhardt Oval
    Time: 1pm

    Team

    1. Thomas Cronan, 2. Harry van Dartel, 3. Brent Naden, 4. Cory Denniss, 5. Ken Sio, 6. Christian Hazard, 7. Jack Cogger, 8. Josh King, 9. Danny Levi, 10. Jacob Saifiti, 11. Sam Stone, 12. Brodie Jones, 13. Luke Yates. Interchange: 14. Jack Johns, 15. Pat Mata’utia, 16. Pasami Saulo, 17. Tyrone Amey, 18. Faitotoa Faitotoa, 19. Bobby Treacy, 20. Chris Randalll, 21. Jacob Gagai.

Newcastle Knights Reserve Grade coach Simon Woolford said he’s been forced to dramatically change his back line after a few unfortunate injuries last week.

“We lost (Nick) Meaney early in the match and the reshuffle hurt us particularly in the second half because the guys ran out of juice,” explained Woolford.

“Tom Hughes was pretty much playing on one leg at the end of the game so the more the game went on we got fatigued and we lost our way a little bit.”

Thomas Cronan has been moved to fullback to replace Nick Meaney, while Harry van Dartel will get his first chance in ISP on the wing.

“Tom Cronan played a couple of years at fullback at Under 20s for the (Canberra) Raiders so he’s more than accomplished there,” said Woolford.

“Harry van Dartel played a couple of years at Canberra and has been looking for an opportunity.

“It will be Harry’s first game for us and he has got a lot of speed, got a bit of X factor about him so we’ll be looking for Harry to do his job.

“He slots onto the wing and I expect those two guys to do a good job.”

While the Knights' forward pack has plenty of NRL experience, Woolford maintains their opponents, which were under the Wests Tigers banner last year, will be able to match that.

“They have got a lot of NRL experience in their back line… Taane Milne, David Nofoaluma, Mahe Fonua, they’re all big strong powerful outside backs so particularly when they’re coming out of their own end, we’re going to need to do a good job on them,” he said.

“We’ve got our work cut out for us, they’ve got a couple of NRL front rowers in JJ Felise and Sausao Sue and Chris McQueen, he’s played Origin in the back row.

“I’d be very surprised if they’re not one of the better teams come the end of the year so we’re going to have our work cut out for us this week, there’s no doubt about that.”

Woolford mentioned they have been working on improving their structure this week and playing a consistent 80 minutes of football.

“I have confidence in the guys coming in and if we get that little bit of improvement I think we can put in a good performance on Saturday,” said Woolford

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS V WESTERN SUBURBS MAGPIES
    LEICHHARDT OVAL
    SATURDAY, 17 MARCH 1PM
    BROADCAST LIVE ON CHANNEL 9

Newcastle hosts Western Suburbs at Leichhardt Oval in the Intrust Super Premiership's Round 2 Channel Nine fixture – and if the first week of action is anything to go by, the “visiting” Magpies may be one of the sides to watch this year.

Last year’s wooden-spooners, who in 2017 operated under the Wests Tigers banner, started the 2018 season in fine fashion, thrashing the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.

Their first-up performance shouldn’t be a shock, though; the Magpies’ line-up is a strong one, featuring NRL veterans in Chris McQueen, who recently overcame a significant injury hurdle, former Melbourne star Mahe Fonua and electric winger David Nofoaluma.

The Knights, after a Round 1 draw with Blacktown, will have a point to prove and also have a few stars in their side, including the likes of Ken Sio, Jacob Saifiti, Daniel Levi and Jack Johns, son of club great Matt.

Last week the Knights scored four of their five tries in the first half – they’ll want to improve their second-stanza effort in this match.

Channel Nine’s live coverage will include commentary from Paul Gallen, Joel Caine and Alanna Ferguson.

Why are we hosting them in Sydney? Would've loved to have watch the boys run around on Saturday.

They have finally put up stats for the first round on the knights site (under the reserve grade player profiles.)
I'm too lazy to copy them but Josh King made the most metres (158) and Luke Yates the most tackles (34 at 89% efficiency) as you would expect.
Cogger had 2 try assists, a linebreak assist, 8 tackles and ran 111 metres.
Hazard and Levi both tackled at over 90% efficiency to top that stat.
    Top fantasy points for the round;
    Luke Yates - 60
    Jack Cogger - 47
Sam Stone - 43 (played most of the game at centre)
    Brodie Jones - 40
    Cory Dennis - 36
    Josh King - 35
    Tyrone Amey - 32
    Ken Sio - 28
    Danny Levi - 27
    Thomas Cronan - 24
    Toa Faitotoa - 23
    Pasami Saulo - 22
    Pat Mat - 22
    Christian Hazard - 17
    Jack Johns - 5
    Nick Meaney - not listed
    Tom Hughes - not listed

Geez Jack Gogger gives away some bad penalties in the ruck. Knights up 16 - 10 at half time. Wests came hard at us that last 15 minutes and came in to the break looking a lot stronger.

That was unacceptable to let that bounce from Levi. On the other side hes been doing well.

Braden Robson scores his second for the Magpies and they win... 34 - 22.

Too many errors from the Knights.

If I was Dean Pay watching Cogger, I wouldn't be too excited watching his game today.

They should have won that 30 minutes no errors then became a basket case
