Tend to agree Billy. I think Gardiner is very lucky as well seeing he didnt play much this year & if he did it was from the bench.
I also think if a few players were not injured Purcell wouldnt be there either.
3 Middle forwards missing through injury & one was last years u18s origin lock a year young.
The other 2 were in the u18s pathways a year young & both played origin u16s

I also thought Manu Alexander was very unlucky not to be involved as i thought along with Best was one of our standouts this year..

3 players from the Nsw 20 man squad need to be dropped so no one is guarantee just yet. Including crossland as Penrith have one of the halves in the 20 man squad also.

Nswchs - Starford Toa, Bradman Best, Harry Crocker,
    Apologies if iv missed anyone.
A few shock players not selected. But unfortunately there trial performances we not up to scratch

These players were selected in the open boys rugby league teams to compete at the Australian u18s championships

Will be interesting to see how they go. This age group has been hit with some important injuries which has shuffled this team around and given other kids an opportunity to show what they have. I would of given them a chance to win with the 6-7 players that are missing if they played. But i think they will struggle come Wed night with out them..
I really hope they dont struggle and they all play to there full potential.
I am also worried they dont have not one front rower on the bench. 2 players struggled to get a run in there own sg ball team this year and now there in Nsw origin team.

    Anyways. Good luck boys

Best had a quiet start, but had an important defensive task on Fifita, and handled him well. Has all the same physical traits as Cotric.
Madden, was the chief organiser, and kept at it while getting targeted by Fifita.
Crossland, very disappointing game in my opinion. Lacked the confidence and may even be cited for a dirty elbow to an opposition player on the ground.
Purcell, came on late and had a few decent runs. Can see he is a workhorse.

Agree to a point. Crossland very ordinary. Madden needs to work on defence, They both offered nothing for Nsw at all apart from Maddern goal kick from the sideline.
Purcell great expereince for him. But was lucky he played.
Gardiner injured in camp hence why Purcell played.
Best solid. Agree started very slow, but have some strong carries in the 2nd half and did some good things defensively.
    Nsw best were #4 #12 #8 #10
    Qld best were #6 #12 #11 #10

During the commentary they said Fifita had played seniors at ISP level and was steamrolling adult players at that level, but Best stopped him dead in his tracks several times. Best didn't get much service and was called on to do a lot of strong defence, but even so he showed speed, skills and enough strength that i'd be happy to see him in reserve grade if he were old enough (which he isn't).
The other three guys can all hold their heads up too. They certainly weren't out of their depth at this level, and i'd say the overall quality of this game was equal to a good NYC game - so they wouldn't be out of their depth in NYC.

Fair enough billy. Best was great defensively against Fifita who was also named in the Broncos Nrl 20 man squad a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately dissagree with the standard of last nights u18s game. Alot of mistakes and i thought Qld structure was superior to Nsw. Actually Qld dominated the first half and were lucky not to go into half time with a bigger lead.
Nsw structure was weird, Our fullback hardly ever touched the ball with sweeping plays and our halves looked pretty ordinary, Crosslands kicking game was very ordinary as was there attacking game.
Great experience for Best and Purcell being the only 2 players in the 20 man squad a year young.
Ashame what happened to Gardiner injury wise.

Great effort bye Nsw to win as they had a few boys ruled out with injury throughout the year.!

Until the chooks and others pick the eyes out of them as per usual.

Don't think their talent scouts aren't right onto these kids.

    Cant was outstanding for us.
I thought 2 or 3 others might make it too - Ryan, Crowther and the fullback with the hard to spell name for instance.

    Is it Noah Ryan?
If so, he is a top player for 14. Many games I thought he was our best in fact.

Noah Reed only signed with Knights 4-5 weeks ago. His a rangy front rower from the Central Coast.

Congratulations to both boys but with out any disrespect both selections are questionable,

Noah Reed played front row all Tournament and was selected in the 2nd row,
Slap in the face for the boys who did play there in the 2nd row and would play better in the back row than Noah could.

Pezet played 9 majority of the tournament and occasionally going to fullback when they brought on there back up hooker.
But Pezet got selected as 5/8 which is a joke.! Feel sorry for the other halves 5/8 who played in the tournament.

Best hooker there was Nswchs who was selected at 9.

    Grandfinal
    QLD 36 v NSWCCC 10

    Congrats though to all
