I see we finally have a high performance trainer for the off season.
Toohey today said we are getting Tony Ayoub, who is currently high performance and medical boss at the Dragons and has worked with Melbourne, Bulldogs and the Roosters, as well as the Kangaroos.

I don't know anything about him, but that is the sort of resume we are looking for.

As I've said before, this could be the best off season in our history. We seem to have sent all the injured guys off for surgery really early, and they should all be fit after their break. We have never had so many young guys who can improve over an off season, and with all our teams finishing next week, we can send them for an early break and get them back to training early.

It should be a massive off season, and i'm glad we finally have a head trainer to get the ball rolling.

What would be nice now is if a new owner signs up soon and throws some money into the pre season training - maybe rent that facility at Coffs that all the rep teams use for a month or so and send all the boys off for some quality training.

Looking forward to a long, productive pre season that sees all the young players improve a lot. All the pieces seem to be falling into place for that to happen.

Catching balls too. Definitely 1000 laps a day to get fitter. Then some passing drills under fatigue.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Sam Stone.
He is definitely the NYC player who most deserves to train with the senior squad.

I hope Browny puts an emphasis on our defense during the preseason ...

I'd vote for Amey to be in the NRL training squad.. He has been ultra consistent all yr and at some stages been the only one making meters.

Both sam and amey would do better training with firsts. There's a minority that deserve it that's for sure.

The thing all the kids need most is 2 months off.
I thought they were basically finished mid season, and they made a bit of a come back after they got a rest during the bye rounds. Their best game was the Melbourne game, just after the two byes, but they just went downhill from there.
Young and inexperienced players can't get up for 26 games of NRL. Older guys with 3 or 4 seasons behind them build as the season goes on and save their best for the end of the year, but we only have 4 or 5 of those players.
Last year we had all our young guys playing in reserve grade right up till grandfinal day, so they ended up getting a short off season, and I think it showed with some of them.

In short, we need a really good pre season, but after they all have a long holiday where they rest their bodies and forget all about football.

A few days of boats and hoes will take their minds off footy.

    Hahaha Beaumont!!

Billy its been a long time since u were 20.

At 20 I could play 2 games in a weekend and be fine to do it again the following week.
A 4wk breat through the finals is more then enough rest. The flog the guts out of them.

No I was a fullback that had his legs taken out from under me and landed directly on my shoulder and that was it.
Training is about building a stronger body and stamina!
2 things the boys don't have much of for NRL footy.

But maybe we should come back at the same time as every other team and start 3 gears behind every team.

That's how to catch up to the competition.. Geez I never looked at it that way!
