New Zealand have beaten Australia by 6 runs in the first ODI, New Zealand lead the 3 match series 1-0 New Zealand 9/286 from 50 overs Neil Broom - 73 (75) Martin Guptill - 61 (73) James Neesham - 48 (45) Marcus Stoinis - 3/49 (10 overs) Pat Cummins - 2/67 (9 overs) Travis Head - 1/21 (5 overs) Australia 280 from 47 overs Marcus Stoinis - 146* (117) Pat Cummins - 36 (28) James Faulkner - 25 (49) Mitchell Santner - 3/44 (10 overs) Lockie Ferguson - 2/44 (10 overs) Trent Boult - 2/58 (9 overs) Player of the Match: Marcus Stoinis (AUS)
If it wasn't for Marcus Stoinis and two bowlers, James Faulkner and Pat Cummins, it would have been a 200 run loss! Our batsmen's batting was a disgrace. Selectors just seem to rotate around the usual old failures. Finch is an over the hill gang guy. Marsh only ever fires up for WA so let him stay there. Travis Head needs one and think things through and settle down when wickets are lost. Maxwell is great with the bat when we are on top but fails with back to the walls stuff.
Game 2 has been abandoned without play due to rain and player safety concerns over the outfield Even though there was long periods of no rain the outfield was still soaked in certain places If a Ground's drainage can't handle a few showers (5.8mm since 10am local time) then it shouldn't be hosting International Cricket
You been to NZ mate? Even in the middle of a drought, the ground is soaked. And this area of NZ had been declared drought affected so there can't be too much drainage.
Actually I have been a couple of times, I have family over there I understand about the drought situation but this is the second time a game has been abandoned at this ground in the last 12 months without a ball being bowled Apparently the council is launching an inquiry and New Zealand Crickets Chief Operating Officer said that Nelson Park which is next door was dry so that suggests it is a drainage problem http://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-australia-2016-17/content/story/1080643.html
