If both teams play like they did this weekend the Cowboys will win. All the momentum with them as well as the vast majority of crowd support. Hopefully they give it to the cheating scum.

Melbourne were poor in the first half against the Broncos, If they start slow then they are vulnerable

How crazy will it be if Morgan and Feldt clutch a 80min try again! Would be good to see. So glad the cowboys are in the GF, gives me a team to cheer for one more week.

The TV ratings should be great, but tickets shouldn't be too hard to come by this year. Fans will have a long way to travel.

    Grand final match officials announced

    Tue 26 Sep, 2017, 11:04am
    Media Release, NRL

Matt Cecchin and Gerard Sutton will referee the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final this Sunday, 1 October between Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys at ANZ Stadium.

NRL general manager officiating Tony Archer said Cecchin and Sutton had been the best referees through the Finals Series and deserved their place in the decider.

"Matt and Gerard have experience in big games. They also have experience refereeing together in big games," Archer said.

"They worked very well together in the State of Origin series, so we know they work well together on the biggest stages.

"They are the best referees for the job and I am very confident that they will officiate the game well on Sunday."

Cecchin refereed in the 2011 and 2016 grand finals, while Sutton refereed in the 2014 and 2015 deciders.

The match officials for the grand final are:

    Lead Referee: Matt Cecchin
    Assist Referee: Gerard Sutton
    Senior Review Official: Bernard Sutton
    Review Official: Ben Galea
Touch Judges: Nick Beashel and Chris Butler
    Standby Referee: Ben Cummins
    Standby Touch Judge: Brett Suttor

Those stats on referees, you have to take into account home games, teams win more at home than away and I believe crowds can influence decisions.
That, home and away, is negated in grand final with both teams away.

Knights have won lots of games,me specially in our peak years, did we look at ref stats then or like every other side we accepted the result while we were winning. If you complain about one ref or one decision you have to look at all refs and all decisions, it's very hard not to be bias.

I have played and followed the game for nigh on seventy years and refereeing standards have never been lower.

Mind you, the game has been made so complex and now apart from the rules, we have 'cheat sheets' issued by Referee Boss Archer, different interpretations by on field and Bunker officials, non enforcement of play the ball rules and marker rules and many of the officials not knowing the difference between a forward pass and a flat pass thrown by a player running. Even a pass thrown legally will travel in a forward direction at the same speed the player was moving at. And referees not following protocol á lá the 'try' by Uate called legal by the video referee when not even asked to officiate.
