Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue is facing a three-match suspension for a lifting tackle on Titans forward Max King.

    Taupau, Matulino charged by MRC

    Mon 14 Aug, 2017, 10:38am
    ‌‌‌NRL.com

Sea Eagles prop Martin Taupau has narrowly avoided suspension for his high shot on Wests Tigers hooker Matt McIlwrick while Warriors front-rower Ben Matulino is looking at a week on the sidelines, with both forwards charged by the NRL match review committee.

Taupau was slapped with a grade one careless high tackle charge, which attracts a fine. Due to a poor recent record the former Tiger will be forced to pay $2,100 with an early guilty plea, up from the $1,500 base penalty for the charge.

Matulino was cited for a shoulder charge on Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead, and the grade one charge means Matulino will be suspended for a week with an early guilty plea or two weeks if he challenges the charge unsuccessfully at the NRL judiciary.

Taupau's second offence this year and a fine? Ridiculous.

Warriors prop Ben Matulino will miss his side's Round 24 tussle with the Rabbitohs, suspended for one week for a shoulder charge on Raiders back-rower Elliott Whitehead.

Matulino entered an early guilty plea and will miss the trip to Sydney, additionally left with 50 carry-over points.
