    Chambers facing one-match ban

    Thu 01 Jun, 2017, 7:52am
    ‌‌‌NRL.com

Queensland and Melbourne Storm centre Will Chambers is facing a one match ban after he was cited by the NRL match review committee on Wednesday night.

Chambers was slapped with a grade one careless high tackle charge for his challenge on NSW Blues halfback Mitchell Pearce in the 50th minute of Queensland's 28-4 loss at Suncorp Stadium.

Usually the charge would result in a monetary penalty, but Chambers is ineligible for a fine because it is the third time he has been charged this season.

It means Chambers will miss the Storm's clash with Newcastle on Friday night unless he successfully fights the charge at the NRL judiciary.

Queensland utility Michael Morgan was also cited for a grade one dangerous throw on Blues forward David Klemmer, but will escapes a suspension as he has a 25 per cent discount for having no charges in the past seven years.

The base penalty for a grade one dangerous throw is 100 points, with Morgan's charge reduced to 75 points due to his clean record in the past.

Well according to the statement above the NRL said he was ineligible for a fine then just 5 or so hours later they say he can play and has been fined instead

This is why fans get angry at the MRC and Judiciary....No consistency and confusion reigns

The NRL is so weak. Tripping four weeks and a decent smack in the mouth.

Yep. Tripping is and always has been a low, despised act until now!

Gold Coast prop and Queensland Origin hopeful Jarrod Wallace could miss his next game, cited for a shoulder charge in the Titans' loss to the Warriors.

Wallace (grade one shoulder charge) would miss one match with an early guilty plea, but would be suspended for two games if he elects to challenge the charge and is found guilty at the NRL judiciary.

Panthers front-rower Reagan Campbell-Gillard was the other player charged for the Saturday games in Round 14, but won't miss any game time, fined for a grade one careless high tackle.

Ryan James charged over tripping incident

    Sat 01 Jul, 2017, 5:06pm
    Scott Bailey, AAP

Gold Coast captain Ryan James will avoid a suspension for a trip on St George Illawarra's Joel Thompson in Friday night's NRL win.

James has been hit with a grade-one charge over the second-half offence, for which he was not penalised in the 20-10 victory.

The Titans prop fell to the ground as he attempted to bring down the Dragons' second-rower, and appeared to lift his right leg as Thompson passed.

James faces a fine of $1800 over the incident due to prior offences, however that can be reduced to $1350 if he enters an early guilty plea.

He was the only player charged from Friday night's matches.

Raiders back-rower Josh Papalii could miss up to three weeks after he was cited by the NRL match review committee for a grade two shoulder charge.

Papalii was charged for his hit on Dragons fullback Josh Dugan in the 57th minute of Canberra's miraculous golden point win over St George Illawarra on Friday night, and will sit out two weeks even with an early guilty plea.

If Papalii elects to challenge the charge at the NRL judiciary and is found guilty, the Queensland forward would be suspended for three weeks.

I wonder if Soliola would be talked up as the worst thug in the world if he'd put that hit on someone else.
