fulltime - we now get a week off and need to win 2 knockout games for the title after that.
Great game bye the sounds of it, Illawarra still have 2 key players due back from injury who are in the NSW u16 origin pathways that didn't play today. I think these two teams might meet again. This was a good test for the Knights boys going forward.
Central coast and Souths were knocked out by Manly and Canberra.
Parra beat Cronulla to get the week off.
Next week - Knights and Parra get the week off.
Cronulla play ?Canberra
Illawarra play ?Manly
Highlights of the Mathews final. The Bradman Best solo length of the field try was pretty good. Kobe Davis seemed to have a hand in a lot of our tries, and Buderus was good as usual.
Scott Dureau talks about the Matts final.
Pretty good article. Scott sums it all up nicely.
Young Buderus had a top game didn't he?
He is pretty small, but for his age he is such a pro. He takes the high percentage option every time and makes all his tackles, kicks really well in general play and for goal, and when he has to he runs himself and is pretty hard to stop.
I saw them play early in the season and he was OK but nothing special, but since then he has really taken charge of this side, and all the other guys are stepping up too.
Harold Matthews Cup - Finals Week Three

UOW Jubilee Oval, Saturday 29 April 10am
Newcastle Knights v Canberra Raiders

Cronulla and Illawarra knocked out is a big surprize. Those were the two sides I was most worried about.
Feeling confident mate ??
Canberra finished 5th and we beat them earlier in the season
You never know with these finals. All sides improve over the season, and some improve more than others.
Hopefully we have had a good two weeks off and come out even better for the last two games. we'll probably need to.

Knights Cup on this weekend
Thu 27th April, 05:23PM
This Sunday the annual Knights Cup will be held at Salamander Bay.
The carnival includes Under 13, 14 and 15s teams from the Club's development catchment area of Newcastle, Maitland, Group 2, Group 3 and Group 21.
"We use this competition as a way to identify talent for our Elite Pathways Development program," Elite Pathway Recruitment Manager Troy Pezet explained.
"It's also a pathway to our junior rep teams for the 2018 season, and the teams use the carnival as a trial for the Country Championships in Forster in June."
