There is still a small chance Ball might make the finals.
Their for and against is better than all the sides on 6 or 8 points, so if 4 of the 8 sides on 6 or 8 points lose 1 (sides on 6) or 2 (sides on 8) games, we can get there on F & A.
The 2 sides we have to play are both sides we can catch, so that helps.
Two home wins and we are about a 4/1 chance of grabbing 8th spot.

Anyone know when the games kick off today?
    Knights site says 12.00.
NSWRL site says 1.10 for Matts.

    I'm going to hope it's 1.10.
That way I get to watch most of the NYC game before I go to watch Mats.
If it's 12.00, i'll miss the Matts game and catch Ball.

Matts was a wonderful exhibition today.
We scored 7 tries by halftime and by my count made one error, which is unheard of in under 16s.
I reckon we had about 80% possession - they had 3 or 4 sets all half.
Max Buderus put on a masterclass - scored 3 tries - 3 or 4 try assists - kicked 11 or 12 goals, at least half from the sidelines - led the kick chase, tackled his heart out. He looked exhausted by the end of the game, but he was still making every tackle and leading every kick chase. "Someone" has taught him to run to the line and do a no look pass to put people through gaps. It works even better in under 16s than it did in firstgrade. He suckered the defence nearly every time.
All the backs had a picnic. It wasn't much of a hit out for the forwards - the halves and the backs just cut them to pieces.
40 points by halftime, and in the second half all the reserves got plenty of gametime and we let them score a few while we only ran in 36 for the half.

Huth and Crossland were out for Ball, but Croker and Hoy and Madden were still there and we had a good lead by halftime. In the second half the big Roosters pack started breaking through our tired defence and the Roosters ran out pretty comfortable winners in the end.

    Matts

    Newcastle Knights - 76 (P Achurch 4, M.J Townsend 2, M Buderus 2, B Best 2, D Heaney, C Ma'anaima, C Jenkins tries; M Buderus 12 goals)
    Sydney Roosters - 18 (M Ward, L Muir, B Papas tries; B Hayward 3 goals)

Scoreline flatters the Roosters - we let them in for 3 soft tries.

    Ball

    Sydney Roosters - 43 (F McHughes 2, S Gardiner, M Leilua, J Hazard, E O'Neill, B Bentley-Hape tries; S Rogers 3, J Hazard 2 goals)
    Newcastle Knights - 30 (M Croker, L Hamilton, T Alexander, T Hoy, I Mataora tries; J Madden 5 goals)

    Congrats to the Matts outstanding!
Congrats to the coach for knowing how to use his 22 players .
    Ball well what went wrong!
To leak in 40 points in the second half .
After having such a good lead!
Maybe the coach should of rotated some of the forwards from Wednesday game and gave the boys that didn't play a go ?
As you could see the affects of that Wednesday game take its toll in the second half.
    My thoughts!

The highlights package for Mats will be worth watching. They should set it to the music "Sweet Georgia Brown" because you'll think you are watching the Harlem Globetrotters in the first half.

The Knights Harold Matthews Cup team are something special. But before I go blowing the trumpet id like to see them play Qtr Finals & semi finals before judging them.
As it stands the Knights will play either Parra - Sharks - Illawarra 1st week of the finals. 3 teams I believe can push the Knights.
I don't think the Knights have been under pressure yet & it will be interesting to see how they react.
The Knights are bye far the best & most consistant team this year, But Cronulla did the exact same thing last year & cracked under pressure in the final weeks.

Yeah, the finals in Mats and Ball are always a whole new competition.
I think it's because many of the coaches try out players in different positions and try different combinations all season, but when the finals start they pick their best side and get serious.
Sides can just creep into the 8 because they have been trying things that didn't work well, but once the finals start they are suddenly super competitive.
