Someone have a stab and name the HM and SG Ball teams for 2017 ?
I'd be surprized if even the coaches would get that right now.

One thing that will be interesting is if Matt Croker and Tex Hoy play Ball after training with NYC.

I wonder if Harry Croker and Matt Croker are brothers?
It would be nice to have another one like Matt, who should finish the year in NYC you would think.
Talking of brothers, I don't see Joel Dark anywhere.
Jock Madden missed out there. If he'd kicked 16 of 16 and scored 2 tries he'd have scored 40, which would have to be some sort of record. 28 is pretty good though.
WA look to be in for a long season.

The Knights SG Ball kids played well. It was 40° here in Perth today, which -having played a few 9's games later in the day- I can attest to it being rather uncomfortable playing!! The big unit in the centres (Ofa somethingorother ... I don't have my programme here next to me at the moment) scored 4 tries and was bigger than most of the West Coast Pirates kids. I thought the five-eight (Jock Madden?) controlled the game well, made chances, and took some himself too. The Pirates will indeed be in for a long season ahead, but they are getting better each and every season they're in. The training and facilities they have here are improving all the time.

It's hard to gauge how these Knights players will go in First-Grade NRL in the coming couple of years based on this one game today, but I'd like to think there will be a few that can step up and do well. These kids will be the ones I'd be interested to see how they go in the next couple of years in Nathan Brown's revitalised juniors system.

The halves pairing of Madden and Crossland played for NSW under 16s last year, so they are a year young for this grade still. Madden has a really impressive football brain. He always has a plan. The two guys in this side who should go up to under 20s as soon as the under 18s season is over are fullback Tex Hoy and lock Matt Croker. They are both 17/18 and trained in the off season with NYC, and both have played for NSW at different levels - Croker multiple times over the last 3 years.

Looking forward to seeing them play for the first time this year.
It will be interesting to see if Mataora is starting to bulk up. He was as tall as his brother last year, but skinny, fast and mobile enough to be a really good winger. His older brother was playing as a forward in firstgrade 2 years older than he is now, so interesting to see if the genes kick in and he bulks up.

Good win for Mathews.
Bradman Best scored 4 tries in the end I think. He is a nuggety guy who is a very powerful runner near the line. Three of his tries were basically getting the ball 10 out from the line, fending off the defender in front of him, and dragging anyone else who got to him over the line.
Most of the best players got a 15 minute early mark. we were ahead 36-4 I think at the time, and Mamly got a few consulation tries against the B team.
Harry Croker is a brother of Matt Croker I think. He look just like Matt, 200 gym sessions ago.

Ball were ahead most of the game, but only stayed in it because of a couple of great individual tries from Tex Hoy - one of them a 50 metre beauty. Matt Croker also stood out in the forwards, and when he went off injured with 10 minutes to go we basically folded.
It's a very young side. A big chunk of the side played Mathews last year, and will be better next year at this level.
Our starting hooker went off on a stretcher after 10 minutes. I think we would have won if he stayed on, because he looked much sharper than the bench hooker.
