So seeing that there's not much to talk about during the off season I thought I should make the Holden Cup thread early (if that's okay)

Players who graduated in the 2014 season and are ineligible for 2015 are: Jaelen Feeny, James De Saxe, Tuiala Togitasi, Jake Mamo, Joseph Tapine, Joe Boyce, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Sam Keenan, Jah Pakau, Chance Peni (Signed with Wests Tigers, still eligible) and James Taylor

(I'm pretty sure that's it)

Squad -

My Lineup (Going off 2014s squad and SG Ball graduates)

1. Bryce Donovan
2. Nganarra Barker
3. Josh Birch
4. Braden Robson/Elliott Jennings
5. Brody Lam?
6. Brock Lamb
7. Jack Cogger
8. Josh King
9. Danny Levi
10. Bradie Smith
11. Harry Pondekas
12. Pride Petterson-Robati
13. Luke Yates
Bench
14. Dylan Manicaros
15. Roman Fepuleai
16. Nathan Lo Monaco?
17. ?

Going to be a very inexperienced team. Seems like the time Cogger & Lamb will really come into their own & make the team theirs for a few years, Levi is going to be big part too, having played in this team since the middle of 2013 & captaining it since the start of 2014.

Sh*t, Danny Levi is still only 18, turning 19 in December...

Now I'm starting to get even more excited about Levi.

Prop Tyrone Amey and lock Faitotoa Faitotoa really stood out as the best forwards in Ball this year I thought.
I really like the look of winger Malik Delaylou too. He is still in Ball next year, but after the ball season he could step up. He is an African kid who looks like a young Uate.
Jake McNamara could be the bench hooker we are looking for. He used to be a halfback, but he finished the season in Ball as a hooker this year, and looked pretty skillful.
Kurtis Dark and Brodie Jones both went great for NSW and in our national title winning under 16s. After the ball season they might step up, although they will both be only 17.

Billy do you think that Barker is ready to step up? He's still eligible for Ball but I reckon that he would do quite well in U20s. Also do you know if Lo Monaco is still with the club he was playing for Wests in the Real NRL (reserves mainly I think)

Barker is super talented but he is pretty small. If he has had a growth spurt he might be ready for under 20s.
Lo Monaco had a few games for us this year. I'm sure he will be in the training squad, but he'll be fighting it out with guys like Tyrone Walsh and Jake McNamara for that second hooker spot behind Levi, and those guys can both fill in at halfback too, so are more versatile than Lo Monaco.
Tom Starling is another hooker who might get a look in after the Ball season. In previous years I wouldn't have said so because he will only turn 17 during the season, but if Cogger, Lamb, Levi and Sione can all play NYC at 17, then our best player from the under 16s national title winners probably can too. He was also just about the best player for NSW against Qld in the under 16s rep game and his defense looked strong at that level, even if he is a bit skinny at present.

I remember that game, he was an absolute beast scoring 2 tries. I have no idea if he can do it every week though, big boppers like him tend to have plenty of inconsistencies. Still really excited to see more of him next year.

Boyce is following Bennett to Brisbane, on a 25-man squad contract too so he's got a good deal going, he was never a chance at getting a run here just because he was well behind our other backrowers but he's the kind of player Bennett likes, you could tell when he picked Boyce out of nowhere to play against the Goannas, so i'm glad to see him get a run with the Broncos.

Bennett gives Joe Boyce two-year deal with Broncos

Joe Boyce has come along way.

SOMEBODY pinch Joe Boyce.

Three years ago he was just a skinny kid playing in Caloundra's A-grade forward pack and in three weeks' time he will be batting the likes of Corey Parker, Sam Thaiday and Matt Gillett on the hallowed training ground of the Brisbane Broncos.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Brisbane's 25-man NRL squad, capping a rise so dream-like even the young man himself struggles to get his head around it.

"I can't even put into words how overwhelmed by the idea I am. But, if I had to think of one it would just be 'excited'," the ex-Nambour junior said yesterday.

"I've been dreaming about being a football player since I can remember - my parents have videos of me as a four-year-old saying that all I wanted to do was play football.

"Now that it's happening I don't believe it. I don't think I'll believe it until I'm actually there."

Boyce's path to an NRL deal has been paved as much by sheer opportunism as it has been by physical talent.

The firebrand backrower has made it his mission to squeeze every ounce of potential out of any chance that has come his way.

His ambition led to the tough choice as a 17-year-old to leave Nambour, a club close to the Boyce family and where his brother James was player-coach last season, joining Caloundra's senior team in 2011.

His decision paid off after just three games when Penrith scouts watched the Sharks and invited the young lock forward to trial in Sydney with the National Youth Competition team.

Boyce didn't get a Panthers contract, but his performance earned the attention of Newcastle scouts, who offered him an under-20s deal on the spot.

"Pretty much everything I've done in footy has just been an opportunity and I've just made sure I'm ready to take whatever any opportunity is willing to give me," Boyce told the Daily.

His performance in the under-20s earned the attention of Newcastle's then-coach Wayne Bennett, who made the young forward one of the few Knights players to join him on his celebrated return to Red Hill.

On November 1 Boyce will begin training with his new club and he believes it won't be long before another opportunity comes his way.

His first goal is to play Auckland Nines in the pre-season and his second is to make his NRL debut, which may come when Brisbane faces its annual player drain during the State of Origin period.

Not that I know of sorry

As for Boyce, good luck to him. He's a consistent player but he offers so little, his attack is non existent. So many games I thought we'd be better served with having any 3 of Pride/Pondekas/Tapine/Fitzgibbon/Yates in the backrow over him. They all looked much better than Boyce imo.

There is a clip on the knights site showing all the new players getting a pep talk - Brock Lamb and big Roman are the only two i recognise, so we could have a lot of new faces. A lot of them look like Kiwis, although there are plenty of PI players from Newcastle these days.

A few others who said their names

Daniel Saifita, massive prop from CC.
Ken Tofilau from NZ, winger/fullback looks like a huge talent.
David Sherridan, schoolboy NSW rep winger.
Jake McNamara obviously a star junior.

We are getting quality imports since we started spending money on resources for NYC.

It wouldn't hurt that Sione has done so well and Pezet had a lot to do with it. Managers would be chasing a spot at the Knights for young players now, instead of us having to go chasing them.
