Knights sign Kurt Mann on a 3 year deal

Will be interesting to see if he can play hooker. Hopfully Levi goes good and Mann is #14. wouldnt mind a bench of...
14.Mann
15.Sione/Barnett
16.Ese/Dan (one starting)
17.Gavet

Sure does, although it remains to be seen where he'll slot in. Should be a suitable upgrade on Buhrer.

I really hope that Levi can produce the attitude and consistency to convince Brown that he's our top hooker.

Fair to say there more than a little concern that Mann was considered as a preferred hooking option.

Competition amongst the rakes is a good thing Wobbles. Mann wants to be the starting hooker, and Woolford wants to be the eighty minute hooker so Danny will be forced to improve on last year.

Really don’t rate him especially if he is going to come on and play hooker.

Personally would rather Buhrer then Mann in that role to be honest.

I’m just going to wait and see how this pans out before making judgement. Seems a bit odd but might suprise us. Hopefully bulks up a bit more.

At worst he is injury cover for fullback and 5/8, which we need.
If he can play some decent minutes at hooker, we need that too, but i'm not holding my breath till that happens.

All good. As above he will be good depth, or be hooker if he earns the spot.

Brown cant be too sure griff will be back with all these hooker options he has lined up.

Didn't Toohey say Levi and a couple of others had lifted their training to a whole new level ? If Mann is given first crack at 9 over Levi it's not Levi's attitude we should be questioning.

It’s fairly clear Brown doesn’t rate Levi as a starting hooker, but an impact bench hooker.

Nobody knows what is going on with Brown and his hookers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Levi asks for that release and I wouldn't blame him. If Levi has lifted his game and putting in for the knights, and they go and get Mann from saints who isn't a specialist hooker and before he even gets here is being given first shot at the role you can see what Brown thinks of Levi right there.

At the moment it's just talk in paper as far as I can see. But if he has been given first shot at it, that's poor form and poor coaching from Brown. You dont foster competition for a spot this way.

Im sure I read something that said Brown got Mann as a utility for cover for a lot of positions and I haven't read anything from Brown saying Mann would get first shot at hooker .
I have always been a Levi fan but am less and less now he lost me a bit when he knocked Lambs burger out of his hand ..
Lamb wasn't happy and it was over Lamb getting the 14 spot over Levi it was poor form and a childish act .
Brown wouldn't be worrying about the hooker spot at all if Griffin was fit ...

Not sure if Mann will get first crack at 9. I'd imagine he will get a solid run in the trial games, as we already know Levi can do the job. If Mann has a good offseason and is given first crack, then I don't agree that it's poor coaching. It's picking the best player for the position. That said, Mann should have an incredible offseason if he gets first pick. Levi has reportedly been training out of his skin and if he works hard, he should have first crack as a specialist hooker.

It literally says on the Knights website they’ve bought him to become a hooker, as well as cover other positions.

Where does it say that he'll certainly get the nod over Levi for 2019? He'll be used as a hooker no doubt, however there's no guarantee that he's our first choice yet.
