Rumour: Knights chasing Isaac Luke

Those that hate Levi being a hotdog will really hate Luke, because Levi is just imitating Luke. Luke is likely to do a selfish play at any time - but I suppose the thing that works in his favour is that they often come off for him, although he looks like a goose when they don't.

If Luke does sign here and our spine can get decent time to gel and work on combinations it’s going to be a very exciting spine to watch.

We can carry two kiwi hookers but three? When Griff is back, likely 2020, what then. Is Luke that much better than Levi that we can afford to pay for both when eventually we will only need one, can we play either on the bench like we could Griff or even Watson due to versatility. Is Luke fit, shoulder or whatever, to play, if so why aren't Warriors keeping him. So many unanswered questions. Not sure about any of it.

I'm all for signing Luke. As long as it's not for silly money, but for fair value, then absolutely I say. We can hardly be planning for 2020 contingencies.

Griff won't play next season unfortunately, if ever again. We can't go into next season with Levi's only support being Buhrer and Starling.

Surely you could say to Danny: Play with and learn from this bloke for two seasons, by which point you should be ready to be the main man..

I still think we need to sign someone capable of playing in the halves and at hooker at a very good firstgrade standard - 500k worth.
Injuries in both positions killed us this year, and we need a very good player as backup for both positions.

Frank give it up, Griffin won't play for at least a year. He then needs to somehow get a new contract & come back hitting the ground running like nothing ever happened to even be a chance at an NRL spot in 2020. As sad as it is, he is probably done. We need to find another solution in that time.

After years of being a reserve grader, Griffin got to live the dream for a year. He got to play in a grandfinal, train his heart out, sign a decent contract, establish himself as a genuine firstgrader, play for his country.
I hope he can do it again when he gets through all the rehab, but even if he doesn't, he got to live the dream for a year - more than most players get.

Not sure were there getting there info our how reliable but NRL rumour mill on facebook is reporting that luke has signed on for 2 years at newcastle.

A 2 year deal would be absolutely perfect, would have no issues with it. I am hoping it is a similar type of success to Michael Ennis going to the Sharks.

Hi from the Warriors. Luke has been fantastic for us this year. The cynics among us noted this is his final year on his contract.

This will probably be his last multi year Contract if he can get one. The problem for us is when he signed with us he ate all the pies and only pulled finger this year. Although to be fair last year he had a seriously ill kid early season.

We want to resign him but the length of Contract is the issue. He is testing the market and fair enough.

If he can get a three year deal somewhere to set himself up good for him, just hope that it isn't us.

Looks like it's going to happen

I feel Luke probably went to the Warriors with the wrong attitude and rested on his laurels for the first couple of years. Lets hope this is the reality check he needed and he's on his game up here. Let's also hope Levi reacts to this signing better than how he reacted to being dropped for Griffin, he will either sook again and ask for a release, or he'll put his head down and compete for the No.9 which will in turn hopefully push Luke to do the same.

Not completely sold on this but let's see how it goes.

Luke is a top level Hooker and wont come cheap. It is a no brainer for us to re sign him but some hard business sense has to be used.

The future for us is Nate Roache but he has been out all year. We also have Karl Lawton Sam Cook and Jazz Tevaga who as a DH couldnt pass wind but is a handy utility. (His designated position was given as junkyard dog)

We seem to be in a similar position with Hookers. Some talk here we would be partial to Levi. My feeling is he will stick with the Warriors but if he snags a good contract elsewhere more power to the bloke.
