Still too many locals to be honest. If it wasn't for a total lack of depth Sione would be in reggies with his mate Lamb.

Gees you guys paint lamb as sensative. First his upset Pearce signing then being off the bench than starting than not first reciever than upset because we kept another half on the books.

Can just picture his head on ur laps and running hands through hair.

Who was the joke who suggested moving pearce out of first reciever for him?

What i'm finding odd is the Watson talk has suddenly stopped.
For 6 months everyone has been telling me how good he is, and now we need a half to step up, and the players are saying they have faith in ...... Cogger, the coach is saying the guy who must own the side is ..... Cogger, and all the talk on here is about ....... Cogger.
I mean, I think Watson is a claytons half (the half you have when you don't have a half), but a lot of people have seemed pretty keen on him till, you know, we need a half to do a job.
It has stopped because he has been injured and the attention has turned on the lack of effectiveness from Lamb. There was a reason Brown dropped him.

Lamb isnt doing enough to be in firsts, doesn't mean he wont come back.

Cogger played well on the weekend, little quiet at first but done his job.

If lamb ewants a contract and to play 1sts he needs to Defend and attack he has done neither so far in 2018...

The role Lamb has played thus far in 2018 doesnt suit the way Lamb plays.
Though a off season of prep work and attacking style setups shouldnt be thrown out the window to allow for players to be able to make a better contribution.
Lamb will get another crack soon enough, and when he does the road in front will be 1 less steep uphill from the last time he played.

Coggar is going to be stearing the middle and feeding Watson and Ponga out wide.
That will be the task he has to execute to keep Lamb in cup.

The general kicking is my biggest concern atm,
Cogs will be doing 80-90% of the kicking from inside our half and probably 70% of our attacking kicks also.
Hopefully he gets deep to allow himself time to get the right kick away.

What is your ideal scenario 88?

Personally, id want to strengthen the defensive line on our edges.
Buhrer at 6 Coggar at 7 would be the way id go.
If Watson is healthy id have him on the bench and come on after 25 minutes in a hooker/roaming role supporting up the middle for offloads and also linking in with the halves and Ponga when in attacking positions.
We cant keep letting teams score 20-30pts a game and expect to win or be a chance of seeing finals footy.
If our defense is solid we end up with more ball and usually better field position to use the ball.

But im not the coach, so for now ill sit back and see how the deck of card fall in the coming month.

I doubt we are seeing finals footy this season not because of Pearce injury.

I never thought we would storm in to the 8 and figured we would be battling for that 8th spot. Our for and against is nearly worst in the league, worse than nearly every side below us.

As you said, can't play finals footy with that.

Nah finals was never in my mind for this year.
Ive been set on solid improvement overall this year for it to be a solid foundation to build off for the next 5yrs.

So for me, the club needs to put whatever hours they are now into defense and add another 20% to it.
The last 5+yrs the top 4-6 teams each year have averaged between 13-18pts scored against them.
So if we want to rise to the top our defense needs to be twice as good as it is atm.

Right now with our leading playmaker out would be the perfect time to knuckle down on defensive structures and get the team grinding out games with good D.

We can definitely make the 8. I think you guys are underestimating just how tough our draw is for the first 8 Rounds. It’ll get easier from here even without Pearce.

You're underestimating how tough the competition is.
We lose a prop for a few weeks and where up chit creek also.
We need Aces to fall out the deck for us to have any luck of being in the finals this year.
Although we would make history for being the first team to make the finals with a minus 150 point differential

6 of our first 8 away. We’ve played the defending premiers, the competition leaders and the early competition favourites all away from home. No doubt there are not as many easybeats as previous years (although a few teams are prone to not showing up at times see Parra, Manly, Raiders and the Titans when they played the Dragons) but we have a fair run of home games coming up and we’re about 10 to 15 percent better at home.

We don’t have Pearce but we do a have a bunch of class players that we haven’t had over the last couple of years who have been standing up most weeks. The current 17 is capable of winning some games over the next 10 to 12 weeks and then Pearce should be back for the final 3rd of the season.

Making the 8 will be tough no doubt but I think we’re a good shot.

I know the best 11 SHOULD be starting, but playing a kid who has signed with another club for next year doesn't sound smart in the long term!
If Browns objective is to teach Lamb a lesson then there's other players to put, but to give Cogger the experience only to let him use this at Canterbury doesn't get me on board. If he was out last resort I wouldn't be against it, but play someone who is or will play for us in the future

I quite like Lamb but preferably at another Club.

All I see in him is another Tyrone Roberts.

Psst Goidley 11 might be soccer,. NRL starts 17!

Brown's trying to WIN games this season and you need the best players you have to do that Pearce is out Lamb is not up to standard at the moment , Cogger is the next best no use shooting yourself in the foot by playing someone not as good just because Cogger wont be here next season .

Yep, where here to make the finals, coggers best option at the minute.

Lamb needs to earn his spot, he deserved his bench spot at the start of the year and has now lost the starting spot...

I'm sure he will be back!

It's seems a bit surreal to read all this about how good Cogger's form is when, two weeks ago, I walked out at halftime as our reserve grade side lost 58-4 to 6th placed Jets.
It wasn't all Coggs fault, but he did look like a deer in the headlights as we were absolutely smashed.

Funnily, our reserve grade had their best game of the season last game, with Levi and Lamb standing out, but I suspect that was more because of a new coach bounce than anything else.
