Your team for 2018

Hopefully Lamb would realise its only for a season or 2 and he will have the chance to learn off a top half. Would only make him a better player really?

It could, but it could also tempt him to seek a release, no doubt there'd be a lot of interest in him if he maintains his form.

I'm not up to date on their current coaching strategy, but surely consideration to bringing in someone to mentor them such as a Johns boy or (retirement pending, Cronk) is a reasonable option in lieu of bringing in another half?

Leave Lamb as half, with Cogger and Johns as backups. Lamb will not improve playing NYC or Reggies. One improves in any sport by playing against better opposition and our forward pack this year will give him a far better springboard to show, and improve, his talents.

That is one way of looking at it although When Morgo thought he had no future at the Cows cause JT was ahead of him there were talks around moving to the Broncs , it was explained to him that the opportunity to take a couple of years developing with JT should not be underestimated, he saw the light and the rest is history.

Fair call Billy, what is your stance ?
Look to stiffen halves with new experienced acquisition or gamble with what we have got ?
In a perfect world we could unload Hodko for at least half of what we are paying him and sign an experienced half who would be worth a spot in our team - but since that won't happen - stick with Lamb, Watson and Cogger and hope we have a combination that does the job.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Jack Johns next year.
Half way through the NYC season they moved him to the forwards and all the talk was he was going to be a ball playing second row, but then they ran out of halves and moved him back to 5/8, and he pulled out the best two games of the season - dare I say a Johns like effort in the halves. He is a tall kid who defends really well, so put some muscle on him and he'll look like a forward for sure, but someone has taught him some crazy skills as well.

he played alot better in the halves imo

I think moving Johns from the halves would be quite a waste personally. I think he played at his best at five-eight especially towards the back half of the season.

Perhaps some of his crazy skills are genetic. We all know who his Dad and uncle are.

Personally I would like to see us pick a big side and let the big forwards create the space for Ponga, Watson,Levi, Ross etc to score some points. So I would go with three Middle forwards on the bench.

1. Ponga
2. Ross
3. S.Matautia (c)
4. Moga
5. SKD
6. Watson
7. Lamb/ Pearce
8. D.Saifiti
9. Levi
10. Lillyman
11. Buhrer (c)
12. Guerra
13. Barnett

14. Griffin
15. Heighington
16. J.Saifiti
17. Ese'ese

3 front rowers on the bench is too much, you need to an edge forward on the bench.
Swap Heighington for Fitzgibbon and that's what I think we might see.

As the season rolls on mozza for mine it will be impossible to keep Fitzy out of the top 17.

A good pre-season strength building and he is sure to improve on what he offered this year, which was just great.

I just dont see Fitzgibbon worth it on bench. He is more a starting 2rf or not worth playing imo.
I feel the above team will be the rd 1 team unless we get a quality center and keep Sione in 2rf

Not if you have two that play 80 minutes.
two props, another middle forward to rotate at lock and hooker cover/utility.
I'd be worried about injury cover. If an outside back or second rower gets an injury I'd rather have Fitzy as cover than Heighington.

Heighington and J.Saifiti both can cover 2rf if needed not to mention Barnett can shift there with Heighington covering lock as well

Buhrer and Guerra play 80
Barnett comes off, heighington comes on
J.Saifiti and Ese Ese are the prop rotation

thats what id do anyway
