Sione Mata'utia re-signs with the Knights

That Hawkins bloke is bog average. Satini has looked pretty good from what I've seen. Both are a downgrade on Pete though.

I've got to think that Brown and Mooney clearly looked at Pete and consider he is at his ceiling and didn't adapt or develop to the playing style that they were looking for this year.

I was happy enough to keep Pete as a depth player on appropriate coin for us but I guess they are clearly focussed and in control of what they want to do with the club. It would appear that younger players, yet to reach their potential (in the coach and football managers eyes) are a better investment for our club in moving forward than the known quantity that Pete was to them...and I'm happy with them making those calls at this stage because everything I have seen to date has proven to be an improvement on the club's capability.

The issue is that there's still so much unknown about concussion and what recovery is required. If any player is still symptomatic after a concussion then they absolute cannot play until they are. From all reports Sione had no symptoms the week after his knock, so really the club is just being extremely cautious in continuing to rest him

Do you think Sione would have been rested as he has been this year, if not for the Mcmanus case against us? I can understand the club being overly cautious.

It was shocking the donkeys were allowed to play Oates a week after that terrible head knock. if it had been us, we would have been fined again, but as per usual Uncle Benny and the other big three just do what they wish and Turdburg stands on the sidelines doing and saying nothing.

I am hopeful now that we are a private entity, that we see a change in this regard both with knee jerk NRL sanctions, and in refereeing decisions. Harder to take action against a team you don't own, politically.

They wanted to keep Pete, but Pete wanted a better deal than they were offering. If they are chasing Hawkins & Satini, then that gives you an idea of the kind of position in the squad they wanted Pete as, a cheap back who if he trains well enough, can grab a position, if not, then a depth player in Cup who won't be costing much.

Sione back to the centres I reckon just has to have a very good off season.

I think the length of contract Pete was chasing was the other main negative for us

Anyone know how many concussions Sione has had this year and which rounds?

Three I believe and what is even more of a worry is this happened in his junior career also and, he admits, by his attitude of 'being tough'. Bit harder mixing it with the big boys and a short career unless his style changes.

Where does it say "being tough" ? He says he tries to be too aggressive. That'll do me people bagging a young bloke for trying to be aggressive. If He does play again (I think he'll retire) I hope he goes to another Club. Mullen all over again ie bagged by our own supporters.

This is why i wouldnt mind seeing him move back to centers. Wouldnt have to tackle as much?

Again we move heaven and earth for a bloke that has never been that good.

Good to see people still drinking Bennetts coolade.

Again name 1 game were he has been best on field.

Even without the injuries send him and his brothers packing. Last of the overpaid/overhyped brigade with hodkinson.

Reminds me of a poor mans Tyrone Peachy without any skill/ball playing.

In the mid 90s early 2000s he would have been good but now with his size and build is built to be belted

Pretty sure there was several games he was voted best on this forum. Will have to look at the MSKOTW voting to see which ones

He is not suited to even being 'aggressive' playing with the big guys Beaumont. He is being knocked senseless year after year. If he is not moved out of the pigs he has a limited career.

For mine he should’ve stayed on the wing for the first few years of his career then maybe shift him one in to centre later down the track.
He’s just too small to be playing in the forwards and he’s going to have a very short career.
I don’t think he’s going to learn much under Browny.
At this stage of his career he’s better off going to Melbourne or the Broncos.

Could give Sione a chance as sub. See how how he goes with his head knocks and his game go to another level, otherwise spots are filling fast and he could lose out.
