Halves situation

The guys who give out Dally M points give out twice as many to playmakers as you'd think, and half as many to outside backs as you'd think.
They should rename it the playmaker of the year award, because playmakers clean up.

Clean up is right

Since 1980 when the Dally M was first awarded it has been won or jointly won by a 5/8 or halfback 24 times

On 31 occasions it has gone to a Fullback, 5/8, Halfback or Hooker

In fact the only times the Dally M was won or jointly won by a non-spine player are:

1981 (Steve Rogers)
1982 (Ray Price)
1988 (Gavin Miller)
1989 (Gavin Miller)
2016 (Jason Taumololo)

IMO the reason Jack Bird won Rookie of the Year over Tui Lolohea a few years ago was because Bird was a half and Tui was an outside back. I think Tui was the much more impressive rookie (Bird has obviously surpassed him now). It's no secret they favour halves in voting. I'd think Cotric will win it at this stage, but if Lamb can pull out 3 more games like his previous one to finish the year I think he'd be in with a chance.

Honestly Cotric deserves it he's played well all season whilst Lamb has only really come into his own in the last 3 matches.

Should we have a look at Todd carney. Who cares that he stuffed up everyone deserves a chance and he is a good buy on the cheap.

Bloody heap of halves and spine players on that list.
Decent number of forwards.
and a handful of outside backs.

He is playing off the bench in England behind Michael Dobson and Robert Lui, and he has had multiple long-term injuries over the last few years that he hasn't played a great deal of footy. For that reason alone I would be steering clear
