Halves situation

I'll cop flak for this but if no marquee halves can be signed for 2018. I would happily have McCrone here for a year or 2 obviously not on big money. But he has been very solid for the Dragons this season. Plus He is better than Feeney and Hodko atleast.

I have high hopes for Cogger now that he is injury free and has had a chance to bulk up a bit.
Cogger and Lamb have played and trained together for 4 or 5 years in Knights teams, NSW teams and for Australian schoolboys on a tour of England and France - and they have trained under coaches like Graham Murray (who signed them for the Knights), Troy Prezet, Scott Dureau, Wayne Bennett and all sorts of elite level squad coaches.
There was an article years ago where they said they don't even need to talk anymore, because they know what each other are going to do in any situation.

I want to see them both fully fit and playing together in firstgrade, just to see how it goes.

I'd like to see them get a good shot at it (not 2 games then drop one or both)

Their combination has been great in lower grades

Let them run team and see what comes of it, Nothing to lose imo

Feeney is our current half and has improved each game he has played in first grade. I don't think we rush Cogger back from injury straight in to the NRL level. That is a massive amount of pressure to put on him straight up.

Give him 2 games in the lower grades and let him settle back in. If Feeney isn't working out then try Cogger then. I'm no Feeney fan, but he has earned his spot with his performances thus far, and to be honest he has shown himself to be more capable at half than I thought he would be at the top level. If that pass wasn't ruled forward last week and we went on to win, we would not be talking about putting Cogger straight back in.

Feeney deserves the chance, one stupid refs call shouldn't define his shot. Besides, you mention Cogger and Lamb's combination, I think Feeney and Lamb are forming a pretty good combination themselves.

Feeney is a very hot and cold player.
He has looked really good in streaks of great form in NYC, Reserve grade and now in firsts, but in between those streaks of form he has looked very ordinary for long periods.
If he has turned a corner and now has a long period of good form in firstgrade, that will be great.

Sounds a bit like Tyrone

None of these young players will be consistently good. Having a spine with a combined age of 80 and about the same number of first grade games isn't going to work over the course of a season.

That said, if the option is keeping Feeney around or looking at Tyrone or McCrone, we don't have much other option.

i agree with Joey, perhaps Shaun Johnson would be better off coming to, er I mean going to a new club ;)

The Storm would jump on him and get him before anyone!
As a footy fan id love to see him there under Belly and playing in a very strong structure and learn to pick his moments of flare.

Cogger has done short spells for both NSW and Australian schoolboys as a bench hooker, and with his fitness level he could have a future there. He'll probably need to keep bulking up to be able to defend in the middle, but he has everything else needed to be a hooker.

Just read that Cronk has said he has,nt put a line through playing SOO in 2018 so that says to me he is not going to retire from playing footy this season ...So imo throw what ever we have to at him to get him here .

I am looking forward to the return of Phythian next year. I wouldn't be surprised if he really makes the 6 or 7 his own and becomes our preferred half option. The fact he was our primary kicker in FG at fullback said a lot to me and the few kicks he got to showcase were superb. I remember watching hum at 6 in NSW Cup a few times as well and he had a good cut out pass on him and gave his outside backs quality ball.

Most of Shaun Johnson's highlights have come from his athleticism from what I've noticed, when his skill set is actually, very average and he consistently doesn't do the little one percent plays right.
For sure he could be improve with a better coach and it hasn't been ideally being coached by 5 different guys since 2011 but the rest of the NRL is laughing at $1.2m atm if that's true.

Matt Gidley has come out and said they'd absolutely consider Cronk if he is interested in playing there, but like Foran we can't really control that. If they say they'd rather play in Sydney just move on to the next guy. I think if Cronk plays for a Sydney team it wouldn't surprise me to be the Panthers.

I put my money on Souths tbh, GI and him are good mates then add Gagai he would have a couple of QLD reps to play with then having Sam Burgess as a line runner off Cronk... that would be dangerous

I would throw 1.5 mill at him and see how we go he probably wont come here but you just never know . The 1 thing on our side is the guy loves a challenge ..
