Halves situation

Although his contracted and by the rules we can not approach him this does not mean that we wont... the nrl let these rules slide a long time ago and ynless we becomethe wipping boy for another rule others can walk over it is fair game.

From my understanding jimmy is on 500k next yr and imo his a 800k+ player... so offering him 900k and see what happens.
At the very leastthe sharks will need to pull something out of there pocket to keep him and loose someone else we could benefit from
Unless we get him next year id be hesitant to chase him, it would take a multi year deal to get him and given his age id only want him for 2018 and 2019.

Jimmy is a smart player... his got 5yrs in him if he wants to... we could sign him for 2019 till 2021 and still get a good job out of him

He will be turning 33 in 2019. Fair amount of risk signing him in november 2017 for 2019 season at that age. but i suppose sitting on our hands being conservative isnt getting us far. like i said for me it would be 2018 and 2019 or pass. Would rather throw 1.2 at ash taylor(think his off contract in 2019?) for 2019 than a 33yr old maloney.

Am I off the mark to suggest we be making a play for Hayne, with the view he'd play at 6 given a good preseason at our joint under his belt. I feel this is all he needs given his stint in the NFL. To me, he is of the same ilk as Jack Bird and would meet similar attributes. Another positive is that he would give invaluable support and mentorship to Ponga, a super talented kid who needs someone like Hayne in his court. We, bar the titans, would be the only NRL club to afford his asking price. He is still only 29 and could give us 2-3 good years of service. Thoughts?

Hayne is rubbish, imagine being pushed to the centres because Tyrone Roberts is going better at fullback.

He would be the worst mentor in the world for ponga and is on $1.2m. PASS.

Great points 2018 or not at all.

I don't think we should chase Hayne, but if his manager rang up and said he was keen, they'd have to take it very seriously and talk to him about what he wanted to achieve.

Oh please NO.......pretentious, attention seeking , self absorbed W***er.:fist:

This whole 32yrs old and yr done is dribble.. people need to leave the 80s ffs.
We are happy to sign Cronk for 2yrs at 34 but not jimmy at 31? Righto

Some people rub one out over a name

Read what i said i didnt say he would be 32 and done, i said signing a bloke 18months before he will where the jumper at that age comes with a certain risk, my personal opinion was that it would be in our best interest to sign a guy like ash taylor if we are signing a half for 2019 and beyond. and yes id take cronk for next year which for me has little to do with what he will bring on the field, more so for what he will do to guys like lamb who will (ideally) be here for 5-10yrs.
