2019 Pre Season and Trials

They have put up a good quality video of the early training.
Tex Hoy, Matt Croker, Luke Huth were all there.
There were 3 or 4 guys I didn't recognise.

Looking at the footage again, I think Mitch Andrews was there, although the guy who looked like Andrews was wearing a cap so it was hard to tell. One of the other guys I couldn't pick might have been Tevita Alifa - the other forward we got from Melbourne last year along with Fermor and Momoisea.

So guys doing their first fulltime preseason

Pheonix Crossland - 18 yo halfback
Matt Croker - 19 yo prop
Tex Hoy - 19 yo fullback/5/8/centre/wing
Luke Huth - 19 yo hooker
Beau Fermor - 20 yo second row/centre
Jirah Momoisea - 20 yo prop
?Mitch Andrews - 20 yo centre/winger
?Tevita Alifa - 20 yo prop

No Star To’a?
He is probably training with the Australian schoolboys and is off to the UK soon with the schoolboys tour, so maybe he will be added when he gets back.
The schoolboys team plays their first game in Newcastle UK on Nov 25, so I assume they'll be flying out next week or early the week after, and won't get back till just before Christmas, so if Toa is going to join the squad, it will be after Christmas.

Interesting in the video they have put up about Bradman Best that they had him training with firstgrade last year as a 16/17 year old.
Hard to know where he will end up playing.
He is a big, strong boy, but also very fast when he winds up.
He could be anything from a winger to a prop in 3 years from now - either way I wouldn't want to have the job of standing between him and the tryline.

just curious - Is Ross sighted in any of the Be The Player video...I couldn't see him? Noticed he was omitted from the players listed down in the rehab update the other day?

Ross was in one of the photos from the first day of training.
Half the squad weren't in that video.

Thanks Billy....I know he's been told he is welcome to explore his opportunities but just reading between the lines that there just seems to be limited commentary on him, it makes it seem clearer to me that he is going to be moved along and not in the long term first grade plans, even though he's contracted to the end of 2020.

Will be interesting to see, if his recovery from the injury gets him back to 2017 peak form, whether he will be considered for an extended stint in first grade if others don't deliver consistently?

So is Hunt signed on for more than we might have re-signed Denniss for, is this a nothing signing or a statement saying sign for what we offer or see you later. I think Denniss would be a better option and Ross is better still.

Not sure Brown sees Ross as the better option, he told Ross he could look for another club and happy trails. Ross stays, then club goes and signs another outside back.

Maybe Brown is over Ross.

Hunt would be on 150k at most.

Denniss wanted 200k.... I'd have given Dennis's 180-200k no probs as I think he has a bright future if he is dedicated enough.

Brown isn't done with Ross, Brown just wants better players and now that we're starting to get them, someone like Ross isn't a high chance of getting a call up so sitting on 350k in cup isn't a good thing for the club or Ross tbh.

In saying that, Ross has made enough money to buy and own a house by 2020, so he mite be happy to go back to real NRL and get a mining job after next year.
