2018 Jersey Flegg Cup

The best part of this season is that we had 13 guys who are under 20 play reserve grade.
I don't think that has ever happened before.

Cooper
Musgrove
Toa
Fermor
Andrews
Hoy
Loughrey
Saulo
Starling
Momoisea
Jones
Dark
Alifa

Half of those guys will get a firstgrade off season and the other half should get a go in reserves.

Billy who do you think are a must to hang onto, besides those already re-signed?
The guy who has come out of no where who I think every team in the comp will be chasing is Star Toa. His massive individual try yesterday as the youngest player on the field will have got everyone's attention.
We'll be lucky to keep him.
I think we have Fermor, Hoy, Saulo and Jones all signed.
Starling, Croker, Crossland, Momoisea, Russell and Cooper are all guys I want to see us keep for sure.
But any of the top 20 players we used this year will be worth another year if the club can find spots for them.

Lot's of them can play under 20s again next year - Hoy, Croker, Toa, Crossland, Rasiga, Worley, Huth, Talty.

So based on your picks 11 to keep with four still eligible for u20 in 2019 leaves 7 who you could easily see being already signed or added to squad. Can't see us keeping a lot of Reserves from 2018 so should be a spot for them. No mention of Andrews or Gibbs?

Don't know how I forgot Andrews.
He was probably our second best yesterday, after Starling.

Gibbs has the talent. I think he needs to convince people he has the desire to have a go.

I wouldn't mind if Lowrie were the reserve grade coach next year and 90% of his squad were players he had in under 20s this year or last year - just throw Hosking, Stone, Loughrey, Musgrove, Denniss, Jones, Saulo in with the guys who played yesterday - and a few older guys like Rossy, Sio and King down from firstgrade - and that would do me for a team.

I watched a bit of Newtown winning their way to the reserve grade grandfinal yesterday, and the commentators said it was basically the Cronulla side that won the under 20s minor premiership last year, and when we won the reserve grade title in 2015 it was basically our minor premiership under 20s side from 2014 - so keeping a winning side together isn't a terrible idea.

I'm excited to see how much he improves with a fulltime off season.
When I was trying to find out who he was in the pre season I saw a newspaper article from NZ that showed him with his younger brother, and his "little" brother must be about 7 foot tall by the way he towers over Jirah. Wonder what he's doing next year?

Wonder if Dean and Shaun are brothers? Must admit didn’t read the articles just scrolled straight to the squad lists.

Yes they are brothers Dean the older bye 2 years..

As for the other comment No Knights picked.! Tell me who deserved to be picked.?
If they didnt play origin u18s or 20s no one will make it. Unless for some miricle which could happen but not often.

Also remember there are some quality players who did not get picked because of off season surgery.

Payne Hass Broncis
David Fifita Broncos
Campbell geaham Souths
Cameron Murray Souths
AJ Brimson Gold Coast
Oregan Kaufusi Parramatta

In hindsight it’s not that bad losing Meaney with Cooper coming through the ranks. I reckon he’s just as good, if not better and is already playing bits of senior football.
