Ross caught chatting contracts

My spy at Brisbane airport reported that Knights cult hero Nathan Ross was seated far away from his teammates while the team was in transit enroute back home from Townsville last weekend.

The talented utility back was talking loudly on the phone to someone - presumably his agent - about his contract status.

I know Ross hasn’t been happy with the money he is on at the Knights for some time - so put it all together and a move to greener pastures could be on the cards for 2019.
 
Can’t read too much into the Lurker, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen at all. He wanted an upgrade before & probably is up against it to start in first-grade next year. Some club out there will be willing to offer him a starting position, he’ll definitely try & go if he can find a fullback spot like was rumoured some months ago.
 
Didn't his deal get upgraded and extended after he went to the Mole to cry about it? If he actually wants to leave and we can get him off the books without paying any of his new deal I'm all for it.

If he is on anymore than $200k he should be licking the bottom of Gardiners shoe's in gratitude, said it for years his poor, if he wants to go let him.

He probably got an upgrade, but not as big a one as he wanted I reckon. He mentioned his contract issues in a press conference & got in trouble & dropped for it so I doubt we would of fully given in to what he wanted.
 
No one has put in more effort in recent years.
But clearly, our culture has nothing to do with effort. We have had a massive player turnover in the last three years and it will continue.
 
This is a real problem these days! It is very hard to build depth because so many players won't grind away and compete for their spot, they think they should be automatic starters! Invariably for most of these guys who can't crack it, they find themselves in the same position at a different club, because the grass isn't always greener! This isn't specifically aimed at Ross, but so many fringe players think they are entitled a first grade spot, but there is still only 17 jumpers to go around! Unfortunately due to where we were at a lot of guys got starts that wouldn't have anywhere else, Ross at his best isn't one of these guys, but Ross version 2018????????

When players are on the outer, they know about it, and it’s time to leave, or do a pat mat and keep showing up to collect the pay packet.
Ross knows his cards are marked.
I wonder if he’s thought about joining Toulouse if they make the ESL next season. He played a few seasons with
Toulouse as a young fella and is a bit of a legend over there. They will need to buy some big names if they get promoted. Their star at the moment is
Jono Ford.
 
Ross was a legend here until he wanted to try and play fullback and centre and got too close to the medja's microphones.

I would like to see him stay, but he certainly has his work cut out for him to earn a spot next year!
He is a solid first grader when at his best, but at what other teams is he an automatic selection????
