Blake Ferguson

So it turns out he has taken up his player option at $800k a year till 2020
Funnily enough he's been dropped today as well to reserves

Think paying half that even may be too steep

I'd easily take him for 400k, although Parra are just having insult to injury with him taking up that option so they're stuck paying 800k to an aging player for the next 2 years regardless of how his form goes from here.

Yeah a change of scenery couldn't hurt for him.

But considering there is no demand it's not something we need to look into right away.
See how Moga turns out and how the market goes over the next several months and who becomes available etc

Don't think seeing how Moga turns out is an option, no guarantees and more likely a bad result rather than good, assume he is gone and look at alternatives, same with Griff even if he makes it back season will almost be gone, put other plans in place not temp fix its.

The Eels have also dangled a centre spot at him and paid him to be a centre also as opposed to us and the sharks where he's be a winger

Take Michael Jennings if we can at half the price?
We should have been offering Jennings and his brothers a deal prior to 30 June could have had all 3 and solved our backline fora couple of years, depth, 1-2 years would have done, no need for your Fergusons, Lee or entire reserve back line.

Michael is one of the reasons the Eels have been so poor. Younger brothers both doing well but the old fellah is past it.

*spew* Sione situation all over again, and Jennings has been plod for a couple of seasons, besides with Jennings laughing all the way to the bank with his $800k a season he isn't going anywhere.

However if Parra were keen to cough up $500k of his contract.... Sure.

Moga got 3 years $1m, would have to be more than that.

Maybe he didn't want to leave Sydney? His ex-wife and kids are there.

It would be interesting to know what our offer to Ferguson was?
I wouldn't have thought $500K a season was too far off!

Being able to offer three years on wingers money means I highly doubt we were the highest bidder. But with that said as already mentioned more then moga no doubt. We got Lee on probably much cheaper then both so cant complain thus far

The eels have Jarryd Hayne and Corey Norman stinking up the joint too. It's amazing how they were going smoothly last year until this season

I think Moga will come back better He did his knee and then found the op on the other one wasn't right , makes me thing the reason he did the knee was because that one hadn't been done right too and he has come back from these before and then played great footy ...He should be fit and raring to go by the start of next season ..

I hope for his and our sake you are right - we could have done with him fully fit this year.

With a decent winger outside him who isn't resentful of the new guy either, I have zero doubt the reason Ross's form was so bad and he was deliberately out of position for quiet a few offloads and defensively was he was having a temper tantrum we brought someone else and he wasn't closer to the action.

Any coincidence Rossdawg started declining with the more media and when he got his new contract after the media hooraaa? I said at the time he was a dime store winger and nothing special.

For mine Scaleybugs Ross Dawg's problem is he sees himself as a champion fullback and the 'personality star' of the team. With Ponga and Pearce he ain't now.

Fact is he is a half decent winger who would find a spot in most teams but he cannot read defence when playing as fullback or centre. Wingers have, or used to have, one law to obey. Don't leave your wing and mark your opposite number.

Seems to be overlooked that law these days.
