Kalyn Ponga

Ponga did kick 15 from 17 in the first 5 rounds, so he's not horrible, there's promise there. Though the way he strikes them just doesn't look right to me, so I'm not hugely confident in him when he's taking a shot. If Lamb isn't in the side, I would definitely persist with him over Sio.
 
Ponga is a goal kicker sure, but not right now. Right now his confidence is shot, he sacked himself from kicking so that says a lot.

Yet they are talking him up for a spot in SOO because of his goal kicking, which at the moment is non existent.
 
In Watson’s defence Lamb could of definitely moved in closer to Watson rather than holding his line the whole way. Watson would’ve had to throw a 30 metre cut out pass right to left at full pelt which isn’t an easy thing to do.

If Lamb was even slightly competent and not acting like a bloke that's never seen a footy in his life than maybe we wouldn't have other players with so much pressure on them.
 
The point Rodwell was making is that Ponga shouldn't have the expectation of leading the side on his shoulders, even if he is taking it on himself to do that with Pearce out.

As a general rule, we shouldn't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Our first priority this year should be doing whatever it takes to look after this kid's development - and if Rodwell is right that too much responsibility is not good for him right now, not putting him in that position seems the smart move.

It is open to debate if Rodwell is right though, because Ponga just keeps lifting every week. He learns a new skill just about every game.

I’ve sat here trying to come up with a response to your posts since quoting mine, but I’ve got nothing that could make a difference in your thoughts once you’ve got it in for someone.

It's a tough one Billy and he seems up to whatever gets thrown at him too.

Once Pearce comes back, there's no doubt he'll hop in the back seat again, so I say let him go wild for the next couple of months.
 
More than likely Brown recognises Ponga as our main attacking weapon since Pearce got injured, and is directing play accordingly.

So far we have had lamb in, not perform and dropped, Cogger in and dropped then Lamb back in. He still hasn't done a lot in the role and we have calls for that to be Ponga's fault lol.

Lamb gets the ball in games and if he wants the ball more when he calls for it, he needs to do more with it when he gets it. If he was creating half the chances Ponga does he would get the ball more.
 
Granted he did improve in defence and was a sharp pass, but he was still stilted in attack and out of the offensive line.

Hopefully he does a Ross who started dreadfully but now ain't half bad.
 
I really do think he will start finding his groove now that he’s in the team (most likely) until Pearce is back. I also think his kicking will improve if the Titans are kept back their 10, rather than like the Panthers almost tackling him before he gets the ball to kick.
When I say these things, yes I’m a fan of his, but I’m not stupid, he’s in the side until Pearce is back then back to reggies. Bench isn’t for him & Watson definitely doesn’t deserve to be shifted IMO. He needs to bide his time & be patient.

Lamb just needs a bit of time to find his feet again. Last season he wasn't great until the end and out some decent games together. He is young and learning what it takes to make it at NRL level.

What we need now is stability until Pearce is back. Lamb needs to be the 7 now as we really don't want to be chopping and changing a pivotal position. Our attack is going along ok and if Lamb can add a bit too it then great, if we could play for 80 minutes, not have those stupid errors we seem to be continually producing each game, our forwards do their jobs we would be winning half our games.

I thought the exact same thing. Wouldn’t be an easy pass for anyone.
