Kalyn Ponga

It was a joke. Stay calm. I’ve been quite open about my undying love for Ponga. He’s actually taken out a restraining order.

This site is getting less and less about the Knights and more and more about how much some on here hate each other and about who's wrong and who's right ....I like coming on here because it is the best place to get info about my beloved Knights but it seems to be less about them ...

You are calling it after one game you donut... Anyone can catch a bomb and cover up those deficiencies for one game. It's whether he does it consistently to prove he has improved is the key. I hope he has but it was a glaring weakness in his game last year and for 99.99% of players will take over the course of their first full rookie season to improve and overcome.

I can't believe how deluded you really are.

You also said he won't go through form slumps because Slater, Hayne, Inglis didn't and went to rep standard in 18 months. 2 of those guys were very bad examples as they are renowned for going missing for large chunks of time. Not I who is the straw man. Everyone on this forum knows it's you.

Hey cowboyman was going to ask you how you rated his performance in D on friday night, we have not seen that side of him before just his attack.

He looks stronger for sure, only got tested a couple times under the high ball...

I was surprised how he put his body on the line and was talking a fair bit as well...

Give him an 8/10 for his first game, just needs to back it up now.

Site lists him as 93kg i dont think he is that big or has he put on some muscle in the off season?

Imo Ponga was brillant, he did everything asked of him and things you wouldnt expect of a 19yr old to do.

He definitely has put on 5kg or so, damn he has a set of thighs on him, looks a bit taller also imo.
95kg would be the max id want him at

Haven't got the chance to see the whole game unfortunately. Living in WA gives me limited NRL where I'm at.

From all reports he sounds to have sorted it out for that game. I'm sure he will of improved that's what the off-season is for. His biggest challenge this year is being consistent over the course of 24 games.

He probably is 93kg. He has that body frame that is decieving where he would weigh more then it looks. Just needed to get stronger over the off-season as he would regularly get rag dolled last year.

His last recorded weight was 82kgs, obviously he didn't do that in 1 off-season, probably more so over the last 2 years since he came into NRL training, but a 10 kg jump on his frame in that space of time is very good & should alleviate some fears over his physicality. He showed strength that I haven't seen from him before to score that try in round 1.

Do you have decent internet?

Know a couple of site that could help you if interested?

He was constantly pushed back or ragged dolled and we see that with kids and fullbacks its normal when they first come into grade, but he doesnt look like he has put on much size...

Showed he is stronger by not being rag dolled once... Will 100% be a 3rd playmaker out wide, needs to work on his short kicking game and he will be a threat thats for sure.

Brown has a good headache with watson, levi, jamie, lamb, pearce, cogger, griffin all after spots.

I'm with you mate for a 19 year old in his first game at a new club he was brilliant and didn't look under pressure at any stage to me , he just looked like he was really enjoying himself ....

When they had the opposed session at nelson bay i stood next to Ponga and he is a fair bit bigger than i thought he was , taller and more muscular ...I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the early 90's .

It wouldn't be unheard of. There was a article near the start of preseason I believe about Jai Field from the Dragons putting on close to 10kgs while playing last year.

It would be much easier to put weight on during off-season then during the season like he did I would of thought.
