Official: Jack Cogger signs with the Bulldogs

Does it say much for Lamb that the Dogs are chasing Cogger instead of him?

Looks like they have the funds for Lamb if they are confident of being able to fit Sezer in should that opportunity arise so why aren't the dogs trying to snare Lamb instead? He is supposed to be this quality ball playing kicking half according to several on here...

Food for thought.

Lambs more a 5/8th IMO and Dogs already have Foran. Plus Lamb and Cogger are really different styles of player, if anything Lamb and Foran are similar.

Maybe they are going after Cogger because Brown has already said to Manly he will NOT let Lamb go no matter what so they are trying for Cogger instead ...

I don't know what's funny about a kid trying to make a career for himself.
He is an outstanding kid who has worked his arse off to get a shot.

And our clubs worst its arse off to have a roster with a bit of depth, if the Dogs want him so bad let them make it worth our while with a player swap.

All you hear about the Lamb lovers is that he is very good at ball playing with a good kicking game.

That is not what Foran is so the number on the back of their jerseys is irrelevant and you'd assume with Forans running game they could make a good halves pairing.

Yeah lamb and Foran don't have similar games at all.

I wouldn't take much notice of what the dogs are doing, joint is a basket case. They are in the top 3 richest clubs and we'll finish well above them

I’m having a wild guess here but I thought the dogs new coach has previously coached Cogger in rep teams. I’d say that’s why dogs want him.

Good on Brown for not letting him go, sucks for Cogger right now but if we have an injury and origin etc he will obviously get a run.

Hodkinson circumstances are different.

I’m stoked they want Cogger and not Lamb. Maybe nobody is chasing Lamb because he’s committed to us?

Would of coached Lamb as well then. They made same rep teams through the juniors.

Different view to most on here last year when Green and the Cowboys were the devils for not letting Ponga go early but I agree. A contract is a contract and the club have every right to keep hold of a player if they want to.

Yeah right I didn’t think of them being in the same rep team, interesting one then.

Every fan is going to get shirty when a player won’t be released to their club early. Not sure the team as a whole would have gained much in grabbing him a year esrly. Maybe we finish 15th lol

If Elliott is anything to go by, if Brown does not have plans for you then I’d say he will do the right thing.

Dean Pay coached Cogger in NSW under 20s last year.
Lamb didn't make NSW under 20s - something to do with playing firstgrade.
Cogger would probably sign for 150-200k.
Bidding for Lamb will start at 400k.

I was answering a question asking who Canberra would chase if Dogs got Sezer.. .

I'm sure dogs targeted Cogger as they know they have a better shot at not only signing him for 2019, but getting him released for 2018. As it is that isn't working out for them.

But their chances of getting lamb signed for 2019 may be good, but getting a release for 2018 would be zero chance. Cogs is down the pecking order so not as crucial.

Might want to check the calendar :giggle:

If Browny needs Jack for injury cover I can understand not wanting to give him an early release and I think all fans are over contracts not being fulfilled

That being said, You don't want a player at your club that doesn't want to be there and you don't want to stall the kid's career either

If Jack is offered the 7 jersey at the Bulldogs I would release him

Oh okay so push us a further $200k out under the cap, when reportedly we are already a million already and if we don't spend 95% we face sanctions.

Also 2 injuries and we have no halves, not to mention pearce 90% will play origin.

In what planet is it a good idea for the Knights to let him go?

Pearce , Lamb ,Watson , Pythian and Ponga if need be should be able to cover the Halves ...I would not let Cogger go but if they do i reckon we have it covered and even more so if Hodko doesn't go which is on the cards the way Manly are going ...
