Official: Knights sign Mitchell Pearce on a 4 year deal

I also think the idea that teams 'Need time to gel' is a little overdrawn

The Roosters will have a new 7 and 1 and I bet they take no time to look good

The roosters are not a shambles of an outfit as we have been in the past and are coming out of. The Roosters are a quality outfit at the top of their game and have been for years.

You just can't compare organisations. We are certainly building towards moving our organisation in to that sort of company but to say just because the Roosters buy a new halfback and they don't struggle, compared to the wholesale changes we have made, particularly with inexperience is painting the picture you want to see, not what is actually there in front of you!

Who or what are you responding to mate? I can't find the precursor for this comment?

Pierce is not a one man saviour. I've never seen him as that style of halfback and personally I don't think he is that talented. There's a small handful of one man halves in the comp, and Pierce isn't one of them

That being said, we dont necessarily need that. We just need what Mullen was never able to do consistently, and that is steer a ship with consistency from minutes 1-80. Pierce is that type of halfback. High energy, highly organized, highly involved, always taking the ball to the line with people around him trying to make something happen. He's done this almost every game for the past decade. Mullen, while perhaps more talented, did those things every third game at best

The reason Pierce excites me is because it is that type of player who takes the weight of responsibility off the shoulders of our explosive spine. Now they can play whats infront of them instead of worrying about setting up the backline and trying to figure out when best to call a play etc

Or Riley jacks....... Off.......
I was coaching Windale under 20's years ago and in the first game at half time I replaced the gun player and the team went silent waiting for him to blow up. Wilbur the Captain broke the ice when he stood up and said "coach you pull Slee off then you pull us all off."

Brazzers

A former top half originated from the Moree Boomerangs side and was signed by a Sydney Club with a very high profile coach.

The kid was told by the coach at the first trial of the year 'I want you to go out there and give it all you've got, and I will pull you off at half time.' To which the young guy said 'Gee Mr ............, at Moree we only got an orange!'

Think Pearce knows his image has taken a hit after losing again for NSW and again falling short for the Roosters, not to mention some of the off field stuff. And I'm sure those living in Victoria know about some fun some of the Roosters players have had after a certain game that weekend that may raise eyebrows amongst those who heard it.

Think being a part of a Knights revival may go some way in to restoring some of that. Joining Manly and Cronulla will very likely be a top 8 team if he was there but they're pretty tight salary cap wise, and if the opportunity to bring in another marquee player Pearce might be able to lend a hand in that.
