2017 Harold Matts and SG Ball

There was an interesting article in the Sydney Herald last week about Manly raiding Western Sydney for juniors. They pointed out that many of the players in the under 16s side we beat in the grandfinal were being bussed in for training. They used the term "they are fishing where the fish are". I think they said Manly have never won the under 16s, or maybe they said they haven't won for decades.
We have made 3 of the last 4 grandfinals, and won 2 of them.

Yeah Manly have 4 ex Parramatta juniors in this years Harold Mathews cup team that they pick up & take to training & drop them at home.
I guess that's what clubs do who can not develop there own players.

All clubs take kids from outside their local competition. Knights are no different. HM team this year consisted of players from the central coast, group 3, 21 and New Zealand. The only difference to manly was that the parents had to drive them to training. Players go to where the opportunities are.

Fair call, I think the majority of this years Matts team were central coast kids.
