Rumour: Adam Blair to the Knights

Fox sports just said that NZ have offered Blair $700K And the Knights are also coming in strong meeting with him tomorrow. $700K is way to much IMO.

I'd be prepared to give them a decent figure but I think one year is tops any more and we take a bit of a risk.

For mine I think Mooney and Browny know precisely what they are doing and which players they are interested in, and what the market is worth if Clubs have to unload players to meet the cap.

The only obstacle I see is if the NRL decide to be 'kind' to the Clubs and forgo the cap limitations in 2018, which would be pretty weak but right up Turdburg's alley after his grooming by Rupe and the Doggies.

When Brown was talking about Blair in one interview I read he made the point a few times that he is well known as a great trainer, and having senior guys who train hard will obviously inspire the young guys too.

I remember an article years ago where one of our forwards had to train by himself for some reason (banned for drugs or something) and he said in an interview that training by yourself was much harder, because all the forwards try to match each other and spur each other on to try hard. I got the feeling from Brown's comments on Blair that he wants the guys he buys to be really hard trainers, to drag guys like King, Fitzy, Stone etc along with them.

PK said on 360 last night that dogs officials went to NRL HQ to ask for some salary cap assistance and got told it wasn't happening

If the NRL really does stick solid, the Dogs could be so ****ed next year. 5 players is a lot to shop around & who knows how much other clubs are going to be willing to pay for them, the Dogs might have to get rid of more players if other clubs want those 5 at a cheap price. At first glance, you half expect the NRL to fall over & concede with the Dogs in big trouble, but it really opens up a can of worms for the 2018 season, essentially the rich clubs would have free reign to buy more players on 1-year deals & cheat the comp so the NRL can't let it happen.

Joshhh I would really hate to see you bet your left whatsit on that! I think Turdburg is capable of anything to get his old side out of trouble and go with a cap free year.

As I type Noddy is advising on NRL Tonight five Doggies are on the market, the Morris twins, Mbye, Graham and Eastwood.

I don't like Adam Blair & cringe at his Tigers efforts while on big coin.
There's been a couple of others Brown has signed that I wasn't keen on & I've been wrong about, so I'll trust his judgment if he sees something

We've been keen on Graham for ages now if the dogs would let him go and all along we've all been yes please, graham would be a dream. Now that apparently he along with a few others are being shopped around we seem to have gone a little cold on him on the forum, not worth 700k, not for more than a 1 year deal etc.

I'd still love to get him here, for 700k. Money well spent if he helps spur on our other forwards and raises the bar in the pack overall.

On the salary cap drama, the NRL fired the dogs a please explain when they had all these signings in the wings, apparently the word then was the NRL were threatening not to ratify any contracts until the dogs can show they will be under the cap next year.

Of course, then they announced the signings of foran and woods, seemingly against said please explain. Now we have the dogs in salary cap trouble, going hat in hand to the NRL.

Be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Kurriboy on here we seem cold on everyone! That might be that it is winter you think?

For mine Graham is just the sort of experienced, hard headed guy the Saifitis', King, NYC props and Ese'Ese would learn so much from and worth every penny of that $700k. What a mentor. Encouraging the NRL knocked back Dogs appeal over the salary cap on Wednesday. They cannot now grant any other Club an exclusion from whatever the cap may be for 2018!

We couldn't do better than Graham if he is fit enough to put in a good year.
He is a player like Bedsy as a leader, in that he quietly goes about leading by example and doing far more than he asks from anyone else.
He leads by example - which is the only real way to earn the respect of the playing group.
Jamie Buhrer is also a leader like that, but half as talented as Graham, so half as effective.
One good year from Graham is worth a million with our young squad in need of leadership and good examples IMO.
If we spend a million and only get 2 good games out of him it won't be much good though.

Will be interesting to see who misses out next year, depending on further signings. Brown might be putting some of these recruits such as Ese' Ese offside straight away if he's promised them things such as first crack. If they land Blair and Graham, well they're both starters. Obvious choice to miss out is King but I see Jake spending some time in reserves also. Would like to see Jake given a crack at lock if thats the case. Klemmer or Taumolo style.

Can't understand how dogs got into so much strife with salary cap, must have been tight before buying This years lot at big money. They should not get any reprieve for poor management, cap should stick and they should have to offload.
