Halves situation

With respect mate this season they have all come forward leaps and bounds so I disagree their baptism of fire has had an undue affect.

In fact they will value wins so much more and won't be complacent would be my take.

Yeah i spose 2 wins in a row changes the view of people.

3wks ago if we had this same convo, im sure many peoples view of Lamb would of been different.

So ill stand by my view ( nrl has been a steep hill and they havemt leant much ) which comes from watching 45 games of them chasing there a$$ while trying to get a breath in.

If this wasnt correct, why would we have chased Watson? And everyone doing cartwheels over the signing

Lamb has come a long way in the last year. His profile in some places has him listed as 179cm (5'10") and 85kg. The picture in the twitter fed on the main page at the moment has him standing next to Sione, who is roughly six foot, and Lamb towers over him by about 3 inches, so he is 4 or 5 inches taller than he was when that profile was made, and I'd guess 10kg heavier at about 95kg.
When he first played with the big boys in the 9s 2 years ago he was monstered in defence a few times. You don't see that now. He is rapidly becoming one of our better defenders, especially as a cover defender when someone makes a break, because he reads the play really well and is often the guy in the right position to make the tackle.
Another off season and Lamb could bulk up enough to be one of the biggest halves in the comp.
Brown has been saying recently that he really likes that Lamb now takes on the line, and the extra size he has now means he has no fear of doing that.
At 20, he probably hasn't got any more growth in him, but he can still bulk up a fair bit by the look of him. 100kg isn't out of the question.

I've noticed this too, when him & Cogger were first making their mark at the club they were tiny. Always was a concern whether they'd become big enough. Nowadays Lamb looks like a genuinely bigger half.

As long as bulking up doesn't produce a slow plodder, I think his size for the position is ok.

Some good points and views ......

Personally I think it will be Lamb and Watson in the halves and I expect Burher or Levi to play 14 so I think Cogger & Pythian will be the reserve grade halves. I still think Hodko will end up in England especially now since he's returned to first grade with some success ......

Ultimately I think Cogger will have to leave the club for a shot at NRL, obviously things could change but Brown seems a big fan of Lamb and Watson looks a sure bet so I just don't see where Cogger will fit in ......

I think Jack Johns has now done enough to get a spot in the reserve grade squad next year. He has improved as much as Meaney did in NYC last year. He started this year as a pretty dodgy defender, and now he is very close to our best in NYC, and he started the year with the vision and ability to make a few things for himself in attack, and now he is a playmaker who does really clever try assists out of nothing - dare I say "Johns like".
He is too old for NYC next year, but it's obvious he has been training fulltime this year and has been getting some very good skills coaching from somewhere, and he wouldn't be out of place in the senior squad in the off season.

Will be hard though especially with our 'depth' in the halves ......

I hope they can find room for him in the senior squad this off season. He has got it all.

Watson performs well at 6 also. Would be great if Browny arranged a few sessions for he and young Jack with Dad a couple of times.

If we start next season with Hodkinson at half I will be very disappointed. Lamb every game is out playing hodkinson now. And with Watson getting the 6 we can only have one 7. Lamb deserves the jumper, has earned his shot at partnering watson.

Watson/lamb pairing excites me a hell of a lot more than hodkinson/watson.
